Kazakis ousts Boyes at the Dynamic Billard Dutch Open

The Dynamic Eurotour – Dutch Open – 1-4 oct 2014 03/10/2014 Alexander Kazakis (GRE) got the better of Karl Boyes (GBR), ousting the Brit with 9:8 from the Dynamic Billard Dutch Open Euro-Tour event in Leende, The Netherlands. Kazakis got drawn into the round of the last 32 players since he lost in the winner’s qualification round to his friend and teammate Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) with 6:9. However, Boyes was the seeded player who came undefeated through the loser’s round. He surely was the favored player in this match. But having in mind the high level and widely spread quality of the Euro-Tour players, nothing can be taken for granted these days. Kazakis has earned his merits in the past and is known to be a fighter. And the match turned out to be a tough fight. Both players did not give anything away for free. 2014 Betway World Cup of Pool – Germany by a whisker as China and England A coast 26 September Round 2 Germany 7-6 Canada England A 7-1 Greece China 7-0 England B England A set up a quarter-final clash with old rivals USA by dispatching Greece 7-1 on an evening which also saw China give England B no chances in a 7-0 win. Earlier Canada had gifted Germany victory as the final round two fixtures played out at the Betway World Cup of Pool at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. Before the tournament Karl Boyes said he would love the chance to ‘shut Earl Strickland up’, after the pair had a fiery Mosconi Cup singles match in Las Vegas last year.  Boyes and his team-mate Darren Appleton booked their match against USA with a confident 7-1 victory over Greece. Day one wins for Greece, France and Austria 23 September – 2014 Betway World Cup of Pool Greece 7 – 6 Indonesia France 7 – 4 Italy Austria 7 – 2 Portugal THE NINTH ANNUAL Betway World Cup of Pool got underway this afternoon at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth and there were wins for Greece, France and Austria as the first session of the $250,000 event unfolded. The opening match went down to the decider as both Indonesia and Greece had periods in the ascendancy. In the end it was a glaring miss on a routine 5 ball by Muhammad Zulfikri which effectively handed the rack and the match to the Greek pairing of Nik Ekonomopoulus and Alex Kazakis. The second match saw France put paid to Italian hopes as veteran Stefan Cohen and newcomer Alex Montpelier looked the part.
