Shane takes the early lead

SHANE VAN BOENING, looking to make his ninth appearance in the PartyPoker USA Mosconi Cup, is the early leader in the nine tournament qualification series for the three automatic spots.

So far, four events have been played and Van Boening carries a 12 point lead over second placed Justin Bergman, following a strong showing at the recent USBTC in Reno, which included winning the 9 ball division.

The third automatic spot is currently occupied by Jeremy Sossei on 26 points, with Skyler Woodward and Scott Frost both snapping at his heels on 25 points.

Players who finish in the top 32 in the qualifying events will receive ranking points and there are three categories of tournaments with differing amounts of points awarded accordingly.

The next event in the series is the Super Billiards Expo which takes place from 16-19 April in Oaks, outside of Philadelphia. This is a Category2 event.

The PartyPoker Mosconi Cup takes place from 7th to 10th December this year at a venue to be named in the near future. Ranking lists will be published on www.matchroompool.com as well as the Facebook page and Twitter feed of the Mosconi Cup. Additional events can and may be added to this list should they materialise.

Eklent Kaci (ALB) gewinnt 2017 World Pool Series: 2nd Series im Finale gegen Carlo Biado (PHI) mit 2-0 Sätzen. Den 3. Platz belegen Darren Appleton (GBR) und Jayson Shaw (SCO). Die von Darren Appleton ins Leben gerufene 2017 World Pool Series wird ab morgen in New York mit dem 2. Event ihre Fortsetzung finden. Das erste Turnier dieser 8 Ball Turnierserie wurde von den Teilnehmern sehr gut angenommen. Auch bei den Pool Billard Fans rund um die Welt scheint dieses Konzept relativ gut anzukommen. Beim zweiten Turnier wurde das Turnierformat ein wenig angepasst, das erste Event wurde noch im Einfach-KO Modus mit recht hohen Ausspielzielen ausgetragen. Ab morgen wird bei der zweiten Veranstaltung bis zum Achtelfinale im Doppel-KO System mit geringeren Ausspielzielen gespielt. Bei Gleichstand einer Partie gibt es wie bereits beim ersten Turnier ein sehr interessantes Shoot-Out. 10th August – 2016 Mosconi Cup Albin back in the reckoning ALBIN OUSCHAN saw his 2016 Mosconi Cup chances increase hugely when he was crowned WPA World 9 Ball champion in Qatar earlier this month. The title was a vindication of the young Austrian’s talent and resolve, as he followed up his silver medal in 2015 with gold. The win puts Ouschan on top of the European World points list after just one event. There are three more tournaments to go – China Open, US Open and the Kuwait Open – and Ouschan has got off to the best possible start in that ranking and will be looking to make the team and emulate his Mosconi Cup showing last year when he bagged the winning 9 ball.
