Lead by former European team captain Johan Ruijsink and his trusted lieutenant Jeremy Jones, the Americans showed plenty of resolve to fight back from 2-0 down in some intimidating conditions at the iconic London venue. Marcus Chamat, the European captain, will have his mettle tested tomorrow as he attempts to revive his team’s fortunes after a sobering second half of the evening where his team won only four of the 19 racks played. Ruijsink said, “At 2-0 down I wasn’t panicking; we didn’t really get that many chances. If we did get a chance, though, I knew we’d do […]

Kristina Tkach snatches second title for Russia this week

Kristina Tkach (RUS) just won the EPBF Treviso Open 2018 Women’s Euro-Tour event in the BHR Treviso Hotel, Italy. In the final match, she defeated Oliwia Czuprynska (POL) 7:0. After Fedor Gorst (RUS) winning the open event yesterday, this makes it a double victory weekend for Russia. Usually, the matches get tougher the deeper the athletes advance in the field. Looking at Tkach’s matches today, this impression is turned upside down. In the early morning, she fought her way through the match against Tina Vogelmann (GER) and won 7:5. Her next opponent was Christine Feldmann (SUI) who also snatched 5 racks from Tkach. Again, 7:5 was the final result in Tkach’s favour. Then Kristina Tkach encountered Jasmin Ouschan (AUT). This match was expected to be a fierce fight with Ouschan being the favourite player. But to the surprise of the audience, Tkach smashed Ouschan and took her down with 7:3 to advance into the final match of the EPBF Treviso Open. There, Oliwia Czuprynska was waiting. The Polish athlete also did not have smooth sailing […]

„Business as usual“ for most favourites in Treviso

The first day of the Dynamic Billard Treviso Open 2018 did not provide too many surprises. #1 of the Euro-Tour rankings Eklent Kaci (ALB) had a walk in the park today. Smooth and easy victories over Finish young talent Micke Strom (FIN) with 9:0 and Wilhelm Georg (GER) 9:3 did not take too much of an effort from Kaci. The Albanian will meet Mariusz Skoneczny (POL) tomorrow at 14:00 in the winner’s qualification round. Just like Kaci, Mario He (AUT) was not really challenged today. He played Germany’s Thomas Lindloff and delivered almost perfect pool. „I’ve barely seen such perfect pool“, stated Lindloff on his facebook page after the match. „Mario has not missed any shot until he was 7:0 ahead of me, including 4 jump shots.“ „What a performance from Mario!“ He will play Daniele Corrieri (ITA) tomorrow morning at 09:00 local time in winner’s round 2. Albin Ouschan (AUT), Mario He’s teammate and friend, also did not undergo too much pressure today. He wasted no time against Eric Geppert (ITA) 9:1 and Michele […]

Six medals for European Juniors Team at the Word Championships

The European Juniors just recently competed in Moscow, Russia, for the coveted title in the Girls, Under 17 and Under 19 divisions. Though no gold medal could be won this year, the outcome of six medals in total can be regarded as fairly successful. In the Under 17’s division, team Europe achieved its best result with Emil Andre Gangfløt from Norway becoming runner-up, winning the silver medal in this age group. That was an overall huge surprise since others were meant to be the favoured players. Gangflot just made the team through a qualifying event. He then played high class pool all through the event and found himself in an unexpected final match where he met Mahkael Parris (USA).  Ganfløt seemed to be vrey nervous in the final and committed too many easy mistakes. He left the 9-ball hanging over the pocket two times. That was easy prey for Parris who resides in US Virgin Islands. The draw in the group was a bit unlucky for Europe. Denis Laszkowski (GER) was drawn against Christoffer Lentz (DEN) […]
