2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup – Europe rout the USA

4th December, 2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup It’s Europe in a landslide USA 2-11 Europe Strickland & Hatch 3-6 Appleton & Souquet Earl Strickland 4-6 Karl Boyes Hatch & Morris 4-6 Immonen & Feijen TEAM EUROPE completed their finest ever PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup win, as they beat the Americans 11-2, the second biggest winning margin in the 20 year history of the event. Needing three more points going into the third day, they reeled off the first three matches to hand out a humiliating defeat to the USA. It was Europe’s fourth win on the trot and their sixth in seven years. With a star-packed team, many felt that this was the Americans best chance in a while but after losing the first day 5-0, the writing was on the wall. America won two points on Tuesday but all in all it was a lame performance that will leave many questions. It was Niels Feijen, partnered by Mika Immonen, who downed the winning 9 ball and the final point of this year’s event gave the Dutchman […]

2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup – More joy for Europe

3rd December,  2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup Europe within three after another great day USA 2-8 Europe Archer & Morris 4-6 Boyes & Feijen Dennis Hatch 5-6 Ralf Souquet Strickland & Van Boening 6-5 Appleton & Immonen Johnny Archer 0-6 Niels Feijen Morris & Van Boening 6-5 Immonen & Boyes ONLY A MIRACLE now will prevent Europe winning their fourth consecutive PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup as they once again got the better of their American opponents, winning three out of the five matches on Tuesday and now need just three points for victory. For the Americans at least they can take heart from the fact that they opened their account and are still alive in the event, but otherwise it was another disappointing day for the legion of American fans at the Mirage in Las Vegas. The USA will need to win at least three out of tomorrow’s five matches to take the 20th Mosconi Cup into a final day. “We won another session and that is the most important thing,” said European captain Johan Ruijsink. “The […]

2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup – Europe in Day One rout

2nd December, 2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup Europe rampant after day one white-wash USA 0-5 Europe USA 3-6 Europe Morris/Strickland 3-6 Appleton/Boyes Shane Van Boening 5-6 Mika Immonen Archer/Hatch 3-6 Feijen/Souquet Rodney Morris 4-6 Darren Appleton TEAM EUROPE created the biggest first day lead in PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup history as they won all five matches at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to establish a 5-0 lead and give the USA a huge mountain to climb. A win in the team game got things underway, before two doubles victories and singles wins for Mika Immonen and Darren Appleton piled on the misery for the Americans. The much-vaunted change in the break rules saw an inordinate number of dry breaks and it was the Europeans who played the better pool and made the least number of mistakes to build up a mammoth lead. Commented European captain Johan Ruijsink, “It has never happened before and it is such a huge lead that you cannot be anything other than delighted. I expect the Americans will bounce back but 5-0 […]

Team Europe gewinnt Mosconi Cup 2013 gegen Team USA mit 11-2. MVP der Veranstaltung wurde völlig verdient Niels Feijen (NED). Vom 02. – 05.

2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup – Break rules set to change

17th October, 2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup Break rules set to change AFTER CONSULTATION with both team captains, the rules and conditions governing the break shot at the 2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup are set to change with the introduction of a narrow break box. Previously, the event employed the ‘three point rule’ whereby for a break shot to be deemed legal, three balls had to either be pocketed or pass the head string or a combination thereof. The penalty for an ‘illegal break’ was loss of table. That rule has now been dispensed with and at the 2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup all players will be taking their break shot within a marked area measuring 4.25 inches (11cm) and extending from the centre of head string to the short rail. The balls will be racked with the 9 ball on the spot and players will be asked to do their best. “This is great for the Mosconi Cup and we’re looking forward to December and the chance to make our break shots really count! Looking at the […]

2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup – He’s Back!

30th September,  2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup He’s Back! SIX YEARS after his last appearance in the PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup, EARL STRICKLAND is back! The 52 year-old veteran will make his 14th Mosconi Cup appearance at the Mirage, Las Vegas from 2 to 5 December as he joins Johnny Archer, Rodney Morris, Dennis Hatch and Shane Van Boening for the 20th anniversary edition of pool’s biggest event. ‘The Pearl’ has enjoyed and endured a love/hate relationship with the event ever since his winning debut in 1996, but his 65% win percentage over 13 Mosconi Cups is still a record for the competition. Strickland has been on the winning team on no less than nine occasions and following his recent win at Turning Stone, there is a popular feeling that he is playing as good as he ever has. “It is wonderful to have Earl back on the Mosconi Cup team this year. We all know that he brings fire and that intimidation factor to our team and the 20th Mosconi Cup would not be the same […]

2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup – Mika makes five for Team Europe

30th September,  2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup Mika makes five for Team Europe MIKA IMMONEN, a three time PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup winner, will be going all out for title number four when he makes his 15th appearance in the annual Europe v America 9 ball battle at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas from 2nd to 5th December. The New York-based Finn last played in 2010 when he was on the winning side in London and you would need to look all the way back to 1996 when he made his debut alongside the likes of Steve Davis and Ronnie O’Sullivan in a narrow 15-13 defeat. Immonen is the only player ever to bag two MVP awards – in Las Vegas in 2003 and Malta in 2008 – and he has a 53% win record over 70 matches played. He now joins Ralf Souquet, Darren Appleton, Karl Boyes and Niels Feijen in a side that has 42 Mosconi Cup appearances between them. “I’m absolutely proud to be joining Ralf, Darren, Niels and Karl and […]

2013 World Cup of Pool

„Team Philippines gewinnt 2013 World Cup of Pool gegen Team Holland mit 10-8. – 22.
