Partypoker Mosconi Cup launches fans‘ choice match

For the first time fans watching this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup will have the power to decide which players face off in a singles match. The players to contest the first fixture of the second day’s play on Wednesday, December 4th will be chosen by a Fans’ Choice vote, conducted at MosconiCup.com. Fans will be able to select one player from each team with the player from each team who receives the most votes going head-to-head in Wednesday’s opening match. The Fans’ Choice match has no determining factor on other fixtures, meaning the players taking part in the Fans’ Choice fixture can be chosen again that day by their captains. The Fans’ Choice vote will open on Wednesday, November 28th and close at 5pm on Wednesday, December 5th at www.MosconiCup.com. Mario He has withdrawn from the European squad for the forthcoming Mosconi Cup after receiving notification of a failed drugs test. The case is ongoing, however, He has decided to withdraw from the European Mosconi Cup squad while he awaits the outcome of the investigation. He said: “I‘m so, so sad that this happened. There is never a right time for this but this was the worst time I could imagine. The Mosconi Cup was always my dream and I made it, but now I can’t play it because I was tested positive by a doping test by a non-performance enhancing drug. “It’s unreal and like a nightmare, which I will never forget in my life. I have high blood pressure, which I have had since a young age and my mum has it as well. I got a medicine which was not on the doping list. However, it didn’t work and we changed the pill. USA to take on England

Team USA will take on England in a Mosconi Cup style challenge match in London on Wednesday, November 28th. The match will be broadcast live for free over two sessions on the partypoker Mosconi Cup Facebook page from 2pm (UK time) on Wednesday, November 28th and forms an important part of America’s preparations for the 25th annual partypoker Mosconi Cup. The England team will be captained by Daryl Peach with Darren Appleton, Karl Boyes, Mark Gray, Imran Majid and Chris Melling forming the five-player squad. Team USA is led by coach Johan Ruijsink alongside vice-coach Jeremy Jones with a playing squad of Corey Deuel, Tyler Styer, Billy Thorpe, Shane van Boening and Skyler Woodward. Taking part at Spots & Stripes in London, the event will feature a mix of up to 13 singles and doubles matches, with the winning team the first to seven points. Each match is a race to five with an alternative break format. The match will be streamed live throughout at www.facebook.com/mosconicup. There will be no public admittance to the match.

ITALIAN EURO TOUR AND WORLD 9-BALL ON 2019 EURO RANKING LIST

With the 2018 partypoker Mosconi Cup taking place at Alexandra Palace, London Matchroom Multi Sport can announce the first two ranking events for Team Europe for the 2019 partypoker Mosconi Cup. They are the Treviso Open in Italy running from 15-17 November and then the WPA World 9 Ball Championship in Doha, Qatar from 10-20 December. The remainder of the calendar will be published in the New Year but both events will have the same historical Level 2 and Level 1 statuses. Details of the 2019 partypoker Mosconi Cup will be announced in due course.

Deuel completes Team USA

Corey Deuel is the fifth and final player to be announced for Team USA at this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup. Deuel will make his tenth appearance in the Europe vs. USA 9-ball battle and joins Shane van Boening, Skyler Woodward, Billy Thorpe and Tyler Styer on Coach Johan Ruijsink’s team to travel to Alexandra Palace, London in December. Deuel was not initially selected in the eight-player squad to travel to Russia and Europe in September. Following Dennis Hatch’s decision to withdraw from the process, nine-time Mosconi Cup star Deuel was invited to re-join the team and has now forced his way into the final five. Styer set for Partypoker Mosconi Cup debut

Tyler Styer will make his partypoker Mosconi Cup debut for Team USA this December 4-7 at Alexandra Palace, London. Styer has impressed Coach Ruijsink during this year’s team training camps and last week scored a significant win over Niels Feijen at the International Open He joins Shane van Boening, Billy Thorpe and Skyler Woodward on the team with the final player to be announced tomorrow. Coach Ruijsink said: “This guy plays, eats and breaths pool. He has great fundamentals and an incredible knowledge already about all aspects of the game and is working hard to master them all. “He works out, does his mental training and plays hard. Thorpe latest player confirmed for Team USA

Billy Thorpe will join Shane van Boening and Skyler Woodward on Team USA for the 25th annual partypoker Mosconi Cup at Alexandra Palace, London this December, with two more players still to be announced. Thorpe made his Mosconi debut in Las Vegas 12 months ago and has travelled to major world events representing America this year. “Billy is an intense competitor who always tries his hardest,” said coach Johan Ruijsink. “He is young and wild, which makes him incredibly hard to play against. “He can run you over like a freight train. Shaw completes Team Europe

Jayson Shaw is the final player to be selected by captain Marcus Chamat for this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup at Alexandra Palace, London this December 4-7. Shaw is the second wildcard player selected by Chamat after Albin Ouschan was chosen on Tuesday. Shaw and Ouschan join automatic qualifiers Eklenti Kaci, Mario He and Niels Feijen who finished as the top three players on the Team Europe Ranking. Scotsman Shaw made his partypoker Mosconi Cup debut at Alexandra Palace two years ago and made the winning 9-ball as Europe beat USA 11-3. Shane van Boening is the second player to be announced as a member of coach Johan Ruijsink’s Team USA for the forthcoming partypoker Mosconi Cup at Alexandra Palace, London. Van Boening has been ever-present for America since making his Cup debut in 2007 and was part of the team that won a memorable Mosconi Cup in 2009. He joins Skyler Woodward on the team for this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup and will be hoping to recreate the success that saw Woodward and Van Boening reach the World Cup of Pool final in London last year. Ouschan in for Team Europe!

Albin Ouschan has been selected by Team Europe captain Marcus Chamat as the first of his two wildcards for this December’s partypoker Mosconi Cup at Alexandra Palace, London. Ouschan narrowly missed out on an automatic place on the team, finishing just nine points behind Niels Feijen on the rankings. The Austrian has consistently gone deep in tournaments throughout the year and returns to Europe’s partypoker Mosconi Cup team after missing out last year.
