Shane Van Boening (USA) gewinnt 2014 PartyPoker World Pool Masters im Finale gegen Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) mit 8-2. Den 3. Platz belegen Karol Skowerski (POL) und Chris Melling (GBR). Das nächste Pool Billard Highlight des Jahres findet am kommenden Wochenende vom 14. – 16. November 2014 im Portland Centre in Nottingham/GBR statt. Shane Van Boening gewinnt als erster Spieler in der Geschichte der US Open 9 Ball diesen begehrten Titel dreimal hintereinander. Vom 13. – 18. Oktober 2014 findet die 39. Ausgabe der US Open 9 Ball Championships statt. Die US Open 9 Ball gelten in der Pool Billard Szene als das wohl prestigeträchtigste Turnier überhaupt. Neben den Weltmeisterschaften sind die US Open 9 Ball das wohl schwierigste Turnier der Welt. Sehr viele internationale Top-Spieler, immer etwas hektische Bedingungen und von der ersten Runde wird auf 11 Gewinnspiele gespielt, das Finale geht bis 13. Mika Ices Iceman Open By Sylvia Lee & Joonas Ohtonen Jyväskylä (Finland) – Newest BCA Hall of Famer Mika „Iceman“ Immonen went to his home country of Finland for the Taom Tips 3rd Annual Iceman Open, and naturally took down the event. This was a great warm-up for his upcoming World Cup of Pool competition and the US Open 9-Ball, which he has been a winner in both events. The Iceman Open drew 54 of the finest Finns. Mika started the event with an exhibition match with Joonas Ohtonen which he put on a „clinic“ as he ran 11 racks during the match in a 15-1 domination. This was a prelude to things to come. But to show that the level of play has gone up in Finland, unknown Marko Rautiainen beat Mika in the early stages in a 8-7 surprise. Philippines hold off battling Chile 23 September – 2014 Betway World Cup of Pool Russia 7 – 6 Japan Finland 7 – 0 Korea Philippines 7 – 5 Chile DEFENDING CHAMPIONS the Philippines got their 2014 Betway World Cup of Pool campaign underway successfully as they edged past a gutsy Chile side that had started out as huge underdogs but almost managed to silence a big Filipino contingent at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth. 7-5 was the final score but there was plenty of heart shown by the South American side consisting of Alejandro Carvajal and Enrique Rojas. Darren Appleton (GBR) gewinnt American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship 2014 im Finale gegen Karen Corr (IRE) mit 150-28. Den 3. Platz belegen Kevin Clark (USA) und Jason Klatt (CAN). Während in Europa vom 12. – 14. September 2014 die 2014 PREDATOR French Open und die Pinneberg Open 2014 ausgetragen werden, finden im Diamond Billiards in Midlothian/Virginia – USA die American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship 2014 statt. Dieses 14.1 Turnier ist quasi der Nachfolger der Maryland Straight Pool Championship, die im Vorjahr von Thorsten Hohmann aus Deutschland gewonnen wurde. Austragungsort ist das Diamond Billiards in Midlothian und das Preisgeld beträgt 25.000$. Davon gehen 5.000$ an den Sieger der American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship 2014. Gespielt wird in den Vorrunden am Freitag und Samstag ein Round Robin System auf 100 Punkte. Am Sonntag wird dann im Achtelfinale auf 125 Punkte gespielt und ab dem Viertelfinale auf 150 Punkte.
