In an exciting encounter in winner’s round 1, Marco Teutscher (NED) bested teammate Ivar Saris (NED) 9:8. Teutscher had the far better start in the match. He took a comfortable 6:2 lead over Saris and the match did not look to become exciting or anything like it at all. It was expected to be a clear affair for Teutscher. But Saris has shown some impressive shooting during this week and did not want to give up without providing a heavy fight to Teutscher. After 10 racks, Teutscher was leading 7:3. All of a sudden the tide turned in the match and Saris got going. He won rack after rack and pulled incredible five racks in a row from Teutscher, being on the hill now with 8:7 over Teutscher. Jouni Tahti (FIN), Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) and Jani Uski (FIN) have snatched the coveted titles in the 8-ball individuals. In the men’s division, Jani Uski started out as an underdog in the discipline. His victims on the way into the final match include Denis Grabe (EST) 8:5, Francisco Diaz-Pizarro (ESP) 10:6 and Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP) 10:8. These victories took him into the final match against Marc Bijsterbosch (NED) who had already taken the 10-ball title earlier this week. Bijsterbosch made his way into the final match over Jakub Koniar (SVK) 8:7, Ruslan Chinakhov 10:8 and Mario He (AUT) 10:7. The final match itself was determined by careful play from both actors. Defending Champion Tkach out of women’s 8-ball individuals

23/03/2017 Defending Champion Tkach out of women’s 8-ball individuals After having received her first round defeat 1:6 against Tamara Peeters-Rademakers (NED) yesterday, defending Champion Kristina Tkach (RUS) was eliminated today from the 8-ball by losing 3:6 to Vivien Schade (GER) in the loser’s qualification round. A loss is something very unusual for Tkach anyway. She had one night to sleep and get over her performance yesterday. Today, She started with two more victories on the loser’s bracket, ousting Eylul Kibaroglu (TUR) 6:3 and Yulia Evseenko (UKR) 6:2. In the loser’s qualification round, Tkach had to stand up against Vivien Schade. The German had just lost to Marharyta Fefilava (BLR) in the loser’s qualification round and was probably steaming hot for a revenge. She went in the match with Tkach and tried her best to survive against the favourite from Russia. After 6 racks the match was levelled at 3:3. Tkach broke rack 7 and no ball went in any pocket. Schade found a difficult task in front of her since the balls were not in […]

He stood tall and took the victory with 10:6 which brought him into the final match. His opponent there was Christian Sparrenlowv-Fischer (SWE), another underdog that was not expected in the final match at all. Fischer eliminated Gabor Solymosi (HUN) clearly with 10:3 in the quarterfinal and Denis Grabe (EST) in a heartbreaking semi-final with 10:9. The final match was on between two newbies. 21/03/2017 Sparrenloev-Fischer through to semi-finals The 10-ball individuals competition at the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in Albufeira, Portugal, is down to the semi-finals. Christian Sparrenloev-Fischer (SWE) booked his seat in the semis with an impressive 10:3 victory over Gabor Solymosi (HUN). It was probably impossible to foresee that match as a quarterfinal encounter at the European Championships. Sparrenloev-Fischer as well as Solymosi cannot be regarded as favourites for the title. But their way today showed some impressive results over strong opponents. Fischer started his day with an 8:5 victory over Sascha Specchia (SUI). Then he went on and took down Jani Uski (FIN) 8:3. In the next round, the last 16, Fischer defeated Fabio Rizzi (FRA) who had just surprisingly ousted Mateusz Sniegocki (POL) the round before. 8:2 was the clear final result that brought Fischer into the quarterfinal match. Solymosi overpowered Danilo Cipriani (ITA) 8:2, then Daniel Kandi (DEN) 8:5 and finally Geronimo Weissenberger (GER) 8:6 for his spot in the match with Fischer. Both contestants were in […]

10-ball competition brings up several upsets at the European Championships

20/03/2017 10-ball competition brings up several upsets at the European Championships The first day of the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair athletes brought several surprises in all divisions. 102 men, 40 women and 14 participants in the wheelchair division have entered the discipline in order to see who will take the titles in the end. In the winner’s qualification round of the men’s division 10-ball, Stephan Cohen (FRA) defeated Nick van den Berg (NED) surprisingly clear with 8:3. There is a story behind both of the two opponents. Cohen just today received his luggage after being here already for three days. He had to borrow cue stick and equipment and went through the straight pool with stuff from his fellow players. Probably he was very happy today to play in his own clothes with his own cue stick and equipment. On the other side, Nick van den Berg needs a good finish during these European Championships. Just like Niels Feijen who achieved his A-status yesterday by winning the title in straight […]
