2016 Mosconi Cup – Albin back in the reckoning

10th August – 2016 Mosconi Cup Albin back in the reckoning ALBIN OUSCHAN saw his 2016 Mosconi Cup chances increase hugely when he was crowned WPA World 9 Ball champion in Qatar earlier this month. The title was a vindication of the young Austrian’s talent and resolve, as he followed up his silver medal in 2015 with gold. The win puts Ouschan on top of the European World points list after just one event. There are three more tournaments to go – China Open, US Open and the Kuwait Open – and Ouschan has got off to the best possible start in that ranking and will be looking to make the team and emulate his Mosconi Cup showing last year when he bagged the winning 9 ball. Jayson Shaw maintained his top spot in both the Combined list with a quarter-final finish in Qatar, while Mark Gray is well placed astride the European ranking. Austria’s Albin Ouschan wins the 2016 World 9-ball Championship with an emphatic 13-6 win over American Shane Van Boening. But even he couldn’t have imagined the dream day he just conjured up on the way to winning pool’s most prestigious prize. After first blowing out Canada’s Alex Pagulayan in the semi-final, Ouschan came back to put an emphatic and somewhat shocking 13 – 6 drubbing on American Shane Van Boening to capture his first WPA World 9-ball championship in front of over 400 people at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha. From here the pressure and drama is guaranteed to be ramped up, as the remaining players can suddenly see the golden prize, pool’s ultimate and most prestigious crown. The round of 16 and the quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday. The semi-finals and final will be held on Thursday. And what a race to the mountain top of pool it will be. Unmittelbar nach der 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft in Doha/Katar und der Jugend Europameisterschaft in Tirana/Albanien findet am Freitag, den 05. August 2016 der nächste Euro-Tour Stopp statt. Für die meisten der europäischen Pool Billard Elite sind diese Albanian Open 2016 mit einer Menge Stress verbunden. Am Donnerstag, den 04. August ist der Finaltag der 9 Ball WM und wir dürfen gespannt sein, welche Europäer zu dieser Zeit noch im Turnier sind und ob alle Flieger pünktlich nach Tirana unterwegs sein werden. Spielort der Albanian Open 2016 ist das Tirana Expo Center und das Teilnehmerfeld ist mit 150 Meldungen erneut sehr gut besetzt. Albin Ouschan (AUT) gewinnt 2016 WPA World 9 Ball Championship im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening (USA) mit 13-6. Den 3. Platz belegen Alex Pagulayan (CAN) und Hsuan Yu-Cheng (TPE). Am nächsten Montag, den 25. Juli 2016 starten in Doha/Katar die WPA 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaften. Dieser Titel ist nach wie vor der wichtigste im Welt Pool Billard und für jeden Spieler die größte Herausforderung. Nicht nur das extrem starke Teilnehmerfeld, sondern auch die besonderen Umstände tragen dazu bei. Die hohen Außentemperaturen und der stark klimatisierte Spielort, der Al Arabi Sports Club, sind für viele Spieler kaum zu beherrschen. Im letzten Jahr gewann Ko Pin-Yi aus Taiwan diesen Titel im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening aus den USA. Im Finale 2015 wurde erneut deutlich das leider nicht immer der bessere Spieler gewinnt. Shane Van Boening spielte ein überragendes Turnier und dominierte selbst die stärksten Konkurrenten nach Belieben. Mario He (AUT) gewinnt North Cyprus Open 2016 im Finale gegen Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) mit 9-5. Den 3. Platz belegen Jayson Shaw (SCO) und Mika Immonen (FIN). Die North Cyprus Women Open 2016 gewinnt Kristina Tkach (RUS) im Finale gegen Marharyta Fefilava (BLR) mit 7-3. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Kateryna Polovinchuk (UKR) und Veronika Ivanovskaia (GER). Am kommenden Donnerstag startet in Kyrenia/North Cyprus die Euro-Tour in den Frühling 2016. Vom 02. – 05. Juni 2016 werden im Acapulco Holiday Resort die North Cyprus Open 2016 der Damen und Herren stattfinden. Für die Herren geht es neben dem Gesamtpreisgeld von 34.000 Euro natürlich auch wieder um viele wertvolle Punkte für das Ranking zur Qualifikation zum diesjährigen Mosconi Cup Anfang Dezember. Titelverteidiger der North Cyprus Open ist Ralf Souquet, der deutsche Ausnahmeprofi bezwang bei der letzten Ausgabe in Kyrenia, 2014, Karl Boyes aus Großbritannien im Finale mit 9-4. Mark Gray (GBR) gewinnt Austrian Open 2016 im Finale gegen Ronald Regli (SUI) mit 9-5. Den 3. Platz belegen Marco Teutscher (NED) und Joshua Filler (GER). Die Austrian Womens Open 2016 gewinnt Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) im Finale gegen Kamila Khodjaeva (BEL) mit 7-6. Den 3. Platz belegen Vania Franco (POR) und Amalia Matas (SPA). Direkt im Anschluss an die Pool Billard Europameisterschaft in St. Johann/Österreich findet an gleicher Stelle der nächste Euro-Tour Stopp des Jahres statt. Vom 14. – 16. 03/04/2016 Dream start at the Dynamic Billard European Championships for team Austria The first Gold Medals have been awarded at this year’s Dynamic Billard European Championships and team Austria had a dream start in any aspect. Both Gold Medals were taken by the Ouschans, Jasmin in the women’s and Albin in the men’s division. Jasmin Ouschan had a tough draw today. In the quarterfinals, she dealt with Anna Mazhirina (RUS) quite clearly with 75:21. Then in the semifinal, she encountered Caroline Roos (SWE). That match started off well for Ouschan. She needed 7 innings in order to finish Roos’ dreams of a final appearance in straight pool this year. 75:32 was the final result for Ouschan. In the final, she met Oliwia Czuprynska (POL) who had beaten Line Kjoersvik (NOR) 75:61 in her semifinal match. However, the final between Ouschan and Czuprynska turned out to become a nightmare for the Polish. She was allowed to the table three times only and never really got a chance to pocket balls. Am Samstag, den 02. April 2016 beginnen in St. Johann/Österreich die Pool Billard Europameisterschaften der Damen, Herren und Rollstuhlfahrer. Bis zum 12. April werden sich im Alpina Sport Hotel viele europäische Topstars der Szene um die Medaillen streiten. Wie immer fehlen bei den Europameisterschaften einige der bekanntesten Spieler aus einigen Nationen. Dennoch kann sich die Teilnehmerliste mehr als sehen lassen und es werden sicherlich viele spannenden Matches zustande kommen. Das deutsche Team 2016 wird mit folgenden Spielern in St. Johann ins Rennen gehen. Bei den Herren sind es Kevin Becker, Joshua Filler, Andreas Roschkowsky, Ralf Souquet, Sebastian Staab, Sebastian Ludwig und Geronimo Weißenberger. Bei den Damen werden Kristina Grim, Veronika Ivanovskaia, Ina Kaplan, Vivien Schade, Melanie Süßenguth und Jennifer Vietz für Deutschland auf Medaillenjagd gehen und als einziger Rollstuhlfahrer ist Joachim Schuler dabei. Dieses Pool Billard Event geht über 10 Tage, es startet an den ersten Tagen mit dem 14.1 Wettbewerb und endet am 12. April mit den Finalspielen im 9 Ball in allen drei Kategorien.
