Deuel completes Team USA

Corey Deuel is the fifth and final player to be announced for Team USA at this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup. Deuel will make his tenth appearance in the Europe vs. USA 9-ball battle and joins Shane van Boening, Skyler Woodward, Billy Thorpe and Tyler Styer on Coach Johan Ruijsink’s team to travel to Alexandra Palace, London in December. Deuel was not initially selected in the eight-player squad to travel to Russia and Europe in September. Following Dennis Hatch’s decision to withdraw from the process, nine-time Mosconi Cup star Deuel was invited to re-join the team and has now forced his way into the final five. Coach Ruijsink said: “Deuel played himself into the team by playing amazing matches, although he always stays critical about the few mistakes he makes – that is the spirit! “He still wants to improve and still searching for the perfect game. Smart player that uses his strength and knowledge in the best possible way. Very Happy that I asked him back in the group and very happy he proved me […]

When he makes a mistake, you can be sure that he recovers and tries even harder. It is great to have him on the team. Off the table there is always something happening around him, which is great fun and good for the team. Ouschan in for Team Europe!

Albin Ouschan has been selected by Team Europe captain Marcus Chamat as the first of his two wildcards for this December’s partypoker Mosconi Cup at Alexandra Palace, London. Ouschan narrowly missed out on an automatic place on the team, finishing just nine points behind Niels Feijen on the rankings. The Austrian has consistently gone deep in tournaments throughout the year and returns to Europe’s partypoker Mosconi Cup team after missing out last year. He made his Mosconi debut in 2016 as World Champion and made the winning 9 as Europe defeated USA 11-7 in Las Vegas and 12 months later he was named MVP as Europe routed America 11-3 in London. “It was really tough to miss out on the rankings because so many things happened in last month,” said Ouschan. “I played really good almost every tournament but the death of my dad hit me really hard but it also made me stronger at the same time. “The EuroTour Holland was a crazy tournament! When I saw Mario He play Shane van Boening and […]

Woodward is first confirmed Team USA player

Skyler Woodward is the first Team USA player confirmed for this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup, to be staged at Alexandra Palace, London this December 4-7. Woodward made his Team USA debut in 2015 and has been ever present since and recently finished third at the International Open, beating the likes of Thorsten Hohmann, Shane van Boening and Justin Bergman before falling to Chang Jun-Ling. The ‘Kentucky Kid’ struggled for form at last year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup but has been working hard with coach Johan Ruijsink this year and believes fans will see a much-improved Woodward in London this December as Team USA aim to halt an eight-year winless run. “I am super honored to be a part of team USA again this year,” said Woodward. “It’s the highest prestige pool event. “Working with Johan for the past two years has been great, it has helped develop my stroke a lot. Three left standing in fight for final two Team Europe qualification spots

The fight for an automatic spot on Team Europe at this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup is now a three-way battle with Niels Feijen and Albin Ouschan hoping to do enough at the International Open to earn a spot on Marcus Chamat’s team. Mario He is sweating on their progress as he has been knocked out of the International Open in Virginia. Eklent Kaci has already secured his place on the team through the European ranking list and has a good chance of finishing inside the top two on the Combined List also. Should this happen, the player ranked third on the Combined List would also qualify for the partypoker Mosconi Cup. Austria’s He was second on the Combined List ahead of the International Open but has been knocked out of the event without scoring any points. That means that both Ouschan and Feijen know that reaching the final eight at the International Open would secure them a place on Chamat’s Team Europe.
