A tight tug-of-war would be expected between the defending champion and the current Euro Tour champion Jasmine Ouschan (Austria), but the final resulted with a rather surprising and preposterous score of 9-4. In the playoff, Chieh-Yu Chou of Chinese Taipei took the 2nd runner-up place by beating Chihiro Kawahara 9-7. When the battle reached the semi-finals, Liu was then the only player from China left in the field. If she goes out at that stage, record would be made for the first time ever that no Chinese players were in the final since the tournament had moved to China in 2009. Albin Ouschan conquers Dynamic Billard Dutch Open 2015 title

04/10/2015 In a final that was mainly determined by one man, Albin Ouschan (AUT) defeated „The Maharaja“ Imran Majid (GBR) clearly with 9:2. The early stage of the final match was determined by equal shotmaking of both players. Consequently, the scoreboard displayed 2:2 after four racks. In rack six, the referee called a foul shot on Majid which he disagreed with. However, Ouschan got to the table and managed to get a two-point lead for the first time in the match. It turned out that this situation became the turning point in the final. Ouschan had some luck with his safety play but in the end did not allow Majid to win any more rack. He played consistently and paved his way to glory with solid pool and excellent shotmaking. 9:2 was the final result which brought Ouschan the victory at the Dynamic Billard Dutch Open. „I was lucky at times with my safety play,“ admitted Ouschan after the match, „but all in all I think I have played some good pool here.“ „I have […]

02/10/2015 Fedor Gorst, 15-year-old player from Moscow, Russia, just came up with a magnificent comeback against Nick van den Berg (NED), winning the match with 9:8. In the beginning everything looked like business as usual. Nick van den Berg, multiple European Champion and winner of 3 Euro-Tour stops, Mosconi Cup team player, was definitely favored over young talent Fedor Gorst. He took a quick 8:3 lead and went on the hill without any hiccups. It looked like the match would be over after a short time with an expected victor. But after rack eleven, the tide has turned in the match. Van den Berg’s break did not come anymore and Gorst hung in there, not accepting the threat of losing. To the contrary, it looked like Gorst grew stronger and stronger with every chance he could get. The match was really very entertaining to watch and after 16 racks played, the scoreboard suddenly displayed a tie at 8:8. The match had turned into a one-rack-decider. What a drama! 27th September – 2015 Dafabet World Cup of Pool Chinese Taipei take World Cup in thriller The Final Chinese Taipei 10-8 England B CHINESE TAIPEI came from 5-1 and 7-4 down to win their first Dafabet World Cup of Pool, beating England B 10-8 in the final. It looked like a case of so near yet so far yet again for Chinese Taipei, four-times semi-finalists in the nine-year history of the scotch doubles event and represented this year by Ko Pin Yi and Chang Yu Lung. But a run of five consecutive racks saw them overcome their 7-4 deficit to arrive on the hill. They lost control of the table at that stage and the England pair of Mark Gray and Daryl Peach clawed one back before a missed 3-ball proved costly for the home team. For Ko it completed a dream fortnight after he won the WPA World 9-ball Championship in Doha last week.
