David Alcaide (SPA) gewinnt 2017 dafabet World Pool Masters im Finale gegen Jayson Shaw (SCO) mit 8-7. Den 3. Platz belegen Chang Jung-Lin (TW) und Albin Ouschan (AUT). Ab dem kommenden Freitag, den 17. Februar 2017 wird in Gibraltar die 24. Ausgabe des World Pool Masters ausgetragen. Bis zum Sonntag, den 19. Februar werden 16 der besten Pool Billard Spieler der Welt in der Tercentenary Sports Hall um das Gesamtpreisgeld von 80.000$ spielen. Der Gewinner bei diesem von Matchroom Sport organisierten Top-Event kassiert 20.000$. In den letzten beiden Jahren war es US Superstar Shane Van Boening der in sehr überzeugender Manier das World Pool Masters für sich entschieden hat. Am kommenden Freitag startet in Indiana/USA eines der spektakulärsten Pool Billard Turniere des Jahres. Das Derby City Classic 2017 startet somit in seine insgesamt 19. Ausgabe und ist wie in den letzten Jahren auch eine sehr komplexe und fast schon unüberschaubare Veranstaltung. Die ist eher als Kompliment zu verstehen, Pool Billard total 🙂 In der Zeit vom 20. – 28. Januar 2017 wird von den Teilnehmern alles gefordert. Es vergeht kaum ein Tag, an dem die Spieler nicht an einem Turnier oder Side-Event teilnehmen können. Zusätzlich wird es wie gewohnt beim Derby City Classic viele spannende und hochdotierte Money-Matches geben. Es wird neben der 9 Ball Veranstaltung noch 9 Ball Bank, One Pocket, Straight Pool und viele Mini-Turniere geben, um die Spieler bei Laune zu halten. Gerade bei den Bank oder One Pocket Wettbewerben kommt es sehr häufig zu Überraschungen. Am kommenden Samstag, den 14. Januar 2017 startet in New York das erste Event der neugegründeten World Pool Series. Die World Pool Series wurde vom ehemaligen 9 Ball Weltmeister und US Open 9 Ball Champion Darren Appleton aus Großbritannien ins Leben gerufen. Darren Appleton und sein Team haben den Anspruch formuliert Pool Billard in den Staaten wieder ein wenig Professioneller zu gestalten und legen den Fokus deutlich auf erhöhte Ausspielziele, ein ganz gutes Preisgeld sowie u.a. einige Anpassungen in Form eines Shoot-Out’s bei Gleichstand. Jayson Shaw (SCO) gewinnt Turning Stone Classic XXVII im Finale gegen Rodney Morris (USA) mit 13-6. Den 3. Platz belegt Dennis Hatch (USA). Vom 05. – 08. Januar 2017 findet in Verona, New York eines der ersten Top Pool Billard Events des neuen Jahres in den USA statt. Das Turning Stone Classic gehört seit Jahren für viele der besten Pool Billard Spieler zum jährlichen Turnierkalender dazu. Dieses 9 Ball Turnier wird zweimal im Jahr ausgetragen, einmal im Januar und dann noch einmal im August. Im letzten Sommer gewann der viermalige Champion Jayson Shaw aus Schottland das Finale gegen die Überraschungsfinalistin Karen Corr aus Irland mit 13-5 –> Turning Stone Classic XXVI. 20th December – Masters tickets now on sale WITH THE 24th ANNUAL WORLD POOL MASTERS taking place from Friday to Sunday 17th – 19th February at the Victoria Stadium, Gibraltar, Matchroom Sport can announce that tickets for the event are now on sale. With five sessions of play in total, all tickets are available from https://www.buytickets.gi/events/world-pool-masters-2017-87 Tickets are priced at £15 for the Friday evening and both afternoon sessions and £20 for Saturday and Sunday evening sessions. 9th December – 2016 Betfair Mosconi Cup Europe 11 – 3 USA Jayson Shaw 5 – 1 Mike Dechaine THE EUROPEANS needed just one match to retain the 2016 Betfair Mosconi Cup as Jayson Shaw had the honour of potting the winning 9 ball as he eased past Mike Dechaine 5-1 to spark wild celebrations at the Alexandra Palace. Team Europe entered the fray carrying a 10-3 lead after dominating the first three days of the competition and they delivered a crushing defeat to an American side that looked out of their depth at times in front of a very vocal 2,000 strong crowd. Shaw, who came into the event on the back of a run of brilliant form, never looked too comfortable over the first three days. However, he came with some terrific shots to banish Dechaine to the sidelines and secure the European’s seventh consecutive victory.
