4th May – 2017 World Cup of Pool Team Scotland: World Cup Opponents Will Be Running Scared With the World Cup of Pool set for a return to the storied York Hall, London this June 13-18 the Scottish pair of Jayson Shaw and Pat Holtz have promised to leave anyone who stands in their way of the trophy looking like ‘frozen rabbits in the headlights’. Scotland return to the event for first time since 2013, when Shaw & Holtz suffered a first-round defeat to eventual finalists Holland. However, since then Shaw has gone on to claim a number of major titles in the sport including the Kuwait Open, Turning Stone Classic and the Challenge of Champions among many others. The idea is to create excitement for fans, as each player is left with just one type of shot to make; 5 tries at a difficult full table cut on the 8-ball. It’s the ultimate pressure shot as players are forced to show full bottle and guts to try and advance. Eklent Kaci (ALB) gewinnt 2017 World Pool Series: 2nd Series im Finale gegen Carlo Biado (PHI) mit 2-0 Sätzen. Den 3. Platz belegen Darren Appleton (GBR) und Jayson Shaw (SCO). Die von Darren Appleton ins Leben gerufene 2017 World Pool Series wird ab morgen in New York mit dem 2. Event ihre Fortsetzung finden. Das erste Turnier dieser 8 Ball Turnierserie wurde von den Teilnehmern sehr gut angenommen. Auch bei den Pool Billard Fans rund um die Welt scheint dieses Konzept relativ gut anzukommen. Beim zweiten Turnier wurde das Turnierformat ein wenig angepasst, das erste Event wurde noch im Einfach-KO Modus mit recht hohen Ausspielzielen ausgetragen. Ab morgen wird bei der zweiten Veranstaltung bis zum Achtelfinale im Doppel-KO System mit geringeren Ausspielzielen gespielt. Bei Gleichstand einer Partie gibt es wie bereits beim ersten Turnier ein sehr interessantes Shoot-Out. Shane Van Boening (USA) gewinnt Open 10 Ball Pro Players Championship 2017 im Finale gegen Johann Chua (PHI). Den 3. Platz belegen Dennis Hatch (USA) und Carlo Biado (PHI). Während in Portugal am Donnerstag der nächste Euro-Tour Stopp stattfindet beginnt in den USA die Super Billards Expo 2017. Teil dieser Billard Messe sind u.a. die Open 10 Ball Pro Players Championship 2017. Neben vielen weiteren Amateur Events in unterschiedlichen Kategorien werden bei diesem Pro Event einige der besten Pool Billard Spieler der Welt aufeinandertreffen und um ein Gesamtpreisgeld von 47.000$ spielen. Alcaide was so overcome with emotion at the end that he needed to leave the arena and compose himself before the trophy presentation by The Hon Steven Linares, the Gibraltarian Minister of Sport.
