Darren Appleton (GBR) gewinnt The ANDY CLOTH 74th World Tournament of 14.1 2014 im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening (USA) mit 200-27. Den 3. Platz belegen Max Eberle (USA) und Evgeny Stalev (RUS). Am nächsten Montag, den 04. August 2014 beginnt in New York/Queens das 74th World Tournament of 14.1 2014. Bereits zum 74. mal wird der beste 14.1 Spieler bei dieser inoffiziellen Weltmeisterschaft gesucht. Dieses 14.1 Turnier ist in den letzten Jahren ein ziemlich großer Erfolg. Leider gibt es immer weniger Turniere, bei denen heute noch 14.1 (Straight Pool) gespielt wird. Für viele ist diese Disziplin nach wie vor die Königsdisziplin und das komplexeste Spiel überhaupt. Titelverteidiger ist Thorsten Hohmann aus Deutschland, er gewann dieses Turnier im letzten Jahr bereits zum dritten mal. Thorsten Hohmann gilt in der Szene als der im Moment wohl beste 14.1 Spieler der Welt. Er bezwang im Vorjahr Darren Appleton (GBR) im Finale mit 200-164. Jason Klatt (CAN) gewinnt Memphis Open 2014 (10 Ball) im Finale gegen Justin Bergman (USA) mit 2-0 Sätzen (17-14, 17-12). Den 3. Platz belegt Johnny Archer (USA). Heute beginnen in Memphis/Tennessee die Memphis Open 2014. Diese Veranstaltung geht bis zum 27. Juli und besteht aus insgesamt drei Wettbewerben. Den Anfang macht vom 23. – 25. Juli die in Amerika sehr beliebte Disziplin One Pocket und anschließend folgen ein 10 Ball Event (25. – 27. Juli) für Pro’s und ein 9 Ball Event (26. – 27. Juli) für Amateure. Als Amateur gilt man in den USA, wenn man nicht an den großen Preisgeldturnieren teilnimmt und eher in die Kategorie Freizeitspieler fällt. Die beiden Pro Events One Pocket und 10 Ball Open sind sehr gut besetzt, auch wenn die Teilnehmerfelder begrenzt sind und relativ klein. The eight man troop of the nation’s finest shooters have been selected to wear their national colors, and will represent the United States of America in the 21st annual Mosconi Cup which will be held in Blackpool, England in from December 1-4. Unquestionably, the most prestigious as well as widely watched pool competition in the world, it is the Ryder Cup of pool as five man teams representing America and Europe do battle over four days of intense competition. US Open One Pocket Championship 2014

Dennis Orcollo (PHI) gewinnt US Open One Pocket Championship 2014 im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening (USA) mit 5-3. Den 3. Platz belegt Corey Deuel (USA). Ab morgen, den 24. Februar 2014 werden im Grand Sierra Hotel & Casino in Reno/USA die 15. US Open One Pocket Championship ausgetragen. Das Finale findet am 28. Februar statt. One Pocket Turniere sind in den USA immer noch etwas Besonderes und erfreuen sich großer Beliebtheit. Diese Disziplin ist leider zeitlich recht schwer zu kalkulieren und deshalb ist das Teilnehmerfeld in Reno auf maximal 48 Spieler begrenzt. Im letzten Jahr gewann Dennis Orcollo (PHI) im Finale gegen den Lokalmatador Corey Deuel nach mehr als 6 Stunden Spielzeit mit 5-3.
