2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup – Shane and Bergman maintain top spots

21th April – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup FOLLOWING THE Super Billiards Expo 10 Ball Championship which concluded at the weekend, Shane Van Boening maintained his lead at the top of the 2015 PartyPoker USA Mosconi Cup ranking. Van Boening was the highest placed American, finishing in fourth spot and has now opened up a 23 point lead over his nearest rival, Justin Bergman who kept his second spot with a 17th place finish. Scott Frost, who has yet to compete in a Mosconi Cup, edged his way into the shake-up as he leap-frogged both Jeremy Sossei and Skyler Woodward to claim a tie for second. The event was won by Dennis Orcollo who beat Scotland$B!G(Js Jayson Shaw in a close run final. Shaw$B!G(Js high finish is another result which boosts his chances of a Team Europe wild card when both teams are finalised in October. 9th April – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup SWEDEN’S MARCUS CHAMAT, a six-time Mosconi Cup veteran, will take the helm for Team Europe when the 2015 event takes place at the Tropicana in Las Vegas in December. The 39 year-old Swede was the life and soul of the team when Europe won for only the second time in 2002 and has an overall record of 11 victories from 26 Mosconi Cup matches played. Chamat, who carries the nickname ‘Napoleon’, takes over the job from Johan Ruijsink who retired from the position undefeated through seven Mosconi Cups. “It will be tough to follow in the footsteps of Johan and all that he did with the European team, but to be the captain of the best team in the world is really a great opportunity for anyone,” said Chamat. “I’m really overwhelmed as it’s a dream for anyone to be involved in this event as a player or coach. 26th March, 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Tickets on sale from Thursday 26th March FOLLOWING A SELL-OUT event last year, tickets for the 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup will be on sale from Thursday 26th March. Taking place from Monday December 7 to Thursday December 10, the Europe v USA showdown is hosted for the first time at The New Tropicana Las Vegas. The defending champions are Team Europe who won their fifth consecutive title in Blackpool, England in December 2014. Now making its seventh appearance in Las Vegas, the Mosconi Cup is pool’s biggest brand and it features two five-man teams competing in a series of singles and doubles matches over the four days. 13th February – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup USA Team Ranking – Super Billiards Expo is a points event MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that the Open 10-Ball Pro Players Championship at the annual Super Billiards Expo will be included in the ranking list for Team USA selection for the 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup. Taking place from April 16-19 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Centre at Oaks, Pennsylvania, the Players Championship was inaugurated in 2002. Since then, the event has enjoyed a stellar list of champions including Shane Van Boening who has won five times in the past seven years. 23rd January – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup USA Team Selection – Reverts to ranking plus wild cards MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that the selection process for Team USA at the 22nd annual PartyPoker Mosconi Cup will revert to rankings as well as wild cards. This follows two consecutive years when the side was handpicked. The Mosconi Cup will be taking place from 7th to 10th December at a prestige venue in the USA, to be announced in the coming weeks. The first points tournament to take place in the schedule of events is the 9 Ball competition at the Derby City Classic which gets underway this weekend at the Horseshoe in Indiana.
