1st November – 2017 partypoker Mosconi Cup Shaw and Alcaide complete defending champion’s line-up WITH JAYSON SHAW and DAVID ALCAIDE taking the final two wildcard spots on Team Europe, the sides are now set for the 24th annual partypoker Mosconi Cup which takes place at the Mandalay Bay Resort from 4-7 December. With Ralf Souquet, Josh Filler and then Nick van den Berg qualifying for the team via the ranking system, it was left to Euro skipper Marcus Chamat to pick the final two players to make the team. Jayson Shaw, a superb winner at the recent US Open and flying high in the World Rankings, was an obvious choice as leader of the contending pack. 11th September – 2017 Mosconi Cup Final Team USA standings WITH THE qualification period for Team USA spots now complete, it was Shane Van Boening who topped the ranking after another stellar eight months that saw him record a string of victories. With qualification for the 2017 Mosconi Cup on a different footing, players needed to have finished in the top ten of the ranking to have a chance of being selected for the team by USA captain Johan Ruijsink. To give himself what he feels is the best possible chance for the USA to win the Mosconi Cup for the first time since 2009, the captain will pick his side from the top ten with the option of going outside the ten for one of his picks should he feel it necessary. 14th August – 2017 Mosconi Cup Chinakhov’s great season continues RUSLAN CHINAKHOV, who earlier this year won a World Pool Series event in New York, added to his impressive resume as he took down the Dutch Open on the Euro Tour to give his 2017 Mosconi Cup chances a real boost. It was the first Euro Tour win for the ‘Siberian Express’ as he looks to become the second ever Russian player to compete in the Mosconi Cup – Konstantin Stepanov was a Euro winner back in 2007. 29th June – 2017 Mosconi Cup Team USA standings after eight events ONCE AGAIN, it was Shane Van Boening who took the honours as the eighth event on Team USA Mosconi Cup qualification took place in Oregon. The tournament was the Pac West Invitational and it was Van Boening who triumphed beating Filipino Ramil Gallego in the championship match to take maximum points. High finishers included Dennis Hatch who is chasing a fifth Mosconi Cup appearance nine years after he made his MVP-winning debut at the MGM in 2009. Other contenders harvesting the points included Oscar Dominguez, a team mate of Hatch in 2009, and Skyler Woodward who enters the top ten for the first time. The name of the game is to finish inside the top ten of the ranking once the 17th and final event has concluded in early September. 18th June – 2017 Mosconi Cup Filler breaks through in China to go top JOSHUA FILLER, the 19-year-old from Germany, stunned the pool world as he took the China Open beating a string of world-class opponents in Shanghai. It was the youngster’s breakout victory and sends him soaring to the top of the Mosconi Cup Team Europe World ranking.
