June 14th – 2017 Mosconi Cup Ticket Sales Europe v USA showdown set for Mandalay Bay MATCHROOM SPORT can announce that tickets for the 2017 Mosconi Cup will go on sale this Thursday 15th June at 6.30pm BST / 10.30am Pacific Time. Taking place at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino from December 4 – 7, this will be the 24th annual Mosconi Cup and it’s eighth appearance in Las Vegas. In keep with the status of the event as the biggest in pool, the Europe v USA will be played out in a 1,500-seat arena with ticket prices as follows: Standard $48.00 Standard Season Ticket $161.00 Premium $70.00 Premium Season Ticket $239.00 VIP Package Details to follow. 22nd May – 2017 Mosconi Cup He wins as VDB goes top Nick van den Berg leapfrogged Ralf Souquet to take pole position on the European Mosconi Cup rankings after the Eurotour Austrian Open. Van den Berg collected 23 points for reaching the last eight of the tournament, where he fell to eventual finalist Francisco Sanchez Ruiz of Spain. Mario He rises to fourth after collecting the title. Albin Ouschan, MVP at last year’s Mosconi Cup, climbs into the top ten as a beaten semi-finalist while the other defeated semi-finalist, Joshua Filler, moves up two places to eighth. Mosconi Cup Team Europe – UK Open added

4th May – 2017 Mosconi Cup UK Open added to Euro Ranking list THE UK OPEN, promoted by the GB9 Tour in the UK, is the latest event to be added to Team Europe’s Mosconi Cup ranking event roster. Taking place from August 4th to 6th in Telford, the event offers a €13,000 guaranteed prize fund and is a Level Three event offering 28 ranking points to the winner. The same event was part of last year’s qualification and it was won by Holland’s Niels Feijen who defeated Francisco Sanchez Ruiz (ESP) to take maximum points. 13th April – 2017 Mosconi Cup Team USA standings after seven events WITH THREE more events played on the USA Mosconi Cup ranking, it’s that man again as Shane Van Boening once again tops the list after winning the Pro Players Championship at the Super Billiards Expo. That’s brings the total of events played up to seven as the South Dakota Kid looks to make his 11th appearance in the event. Despite missing the World Pool Series events in New York for personal reasons, Dennis Hatch stays in the upper echelons as he looks to make his fifth appearance in the Mosconi Cup. This year it’s about finishing in the top ten once the 16th and final event has been played out in early September. 10th April – 2017 Mosconi Cup Souquet consolidates position at the top GERMANY’S RALF SOUQUET tightened his grip at the top of the European 2017 Mosconi Cup rankings with another great performance as he finished in the top four of the recent Portuguese Open in Salgados. With no ‘World’ events having taken place yet, the ‘European’ and ‘World’ rankings are currently one and the same and the Kaiser has opened up a 45 points lead over third spot. Souquet has already appeared in more Mosconi Cups than any other European player (16) and will looking to return to the side for his first appearance since 2013. 2017 European Mosconi Cup Rankings – update after two events

30th March – 2017 Mosconi Cup European Team qualification underway WITH TWO EVENTS having taken place on the European Mosconi Cup ranking, Europe’s all-time appearance record holder Ralf Souquet is once again in the box seat as he heads up the World and European rankings as qualification gets underway in earnest. ‘The Kaiser’ has made a total of 16 Mosconi Cup appearances from 1994 up to 2013 and an appearance in Las Vegas in December will put him in the Guinness Book of Records alongside America’s Johnny Archer on 17 Cups, assuming that the Scorpion fails to make the US team this year. Souquet was a runner-up to Niels Feijen at the Level Three Bucharest Open in February and then went on to win on the Euro Tour later that month to put him on 72 points. 23rd March – 2017 Mosconi Cup European Team qualification events announced MATCHROOM SPORT can announce the 12 event series that will determine three of the five spots on the European Mosconi Cup team as they bid to extend their run of successive victories to eight this December in Las Vegas. The events fall into three categories; ‘World Events’ of which there are two; European ‘A’ events, numbering five and European ‘B’ events of which there are also five. Unlike previous years there will be only two rankings instead of three. The first will be the ‘European Ranking’ which includes the five European ‘A’ and five European ‘B’ events. 22nd March – 2017 Mosconi Cup Team USA standings after four events WITH FOUR events played in the 15 event series to determine the top ten players eligible for Team USA, it is veteran and former Mosconi MVP Dennis Hatch who heads the list, having pointed at two of the four events played. Behind him is another former MVP in Rodney Morris, while other former Mosconi players Shane Van Boening, Johnny Archer, Oscar Dominguez and Justin Hall help fill out the top ten spots. This year it’s about finishing in the top ten once the 15th and final event has been played out in early September. 2017 Mosconi Cup – Team USA qualification series announced

14th March – 2017 Mosconi Cup Team USA qualification series announced MATCHROOM SPORT can announce the Official Mosconi Cup Team USA Ranking Events for the 2017 Europe v USA match which takes place at the Tropicana, Las Vegas from 4th to 7th December. The roster has been set at 15 events, a reduction from 2016, with all tournaments on 7 foot tables having been dropped at the behest of the competing players. In addition, there are no overseas events. This year the final qualifying event will be in early September which means no US Open, following Team USA captain Johan Ruijsink’s stipulation that he needs additional time to work with the team in the lead up to the event. The 15 events are divided into three grades with Grade One carrying the most points and Grade Three carrying the least. At the end of the qualification period, Team Captain Johan Ruijsink will select four players from the top ten of the rankings plus one other player (top ten or not) to comprise his squad of […]
