Now, the big event you’ve been longing for, is just about here. 15 months after Holland’s Niels Feijen sank the final 9-ball and stood on top of the pool world, the finest pool players from each and every corner of the globe will once again descend upon the desert capital of Doha, Qatar to contest the sport’s most important and most prestigious prize, the 2015 WPA World 9-ball Championship. The star-laden event runs from September 7-18th at Doha’s Al Arabi Sports Club. This will be the sixth straight year that that the tiny Gulf country of Qatar hosts the World 9-ball Championship, and the 24th time, dating back to 1990, that the World Pool Billiards Association(WPA) has held a World 9-ball Championship. But for the man affectionately known as “Gaga” to his fellow Filipinos, that once signature trait now sits forever buried deep in the Qatari desert. Displaying masterful, career-defining cueing prowess, and the heart of a proud lion, Gabica notched three straight pressure cooker victories today, and barged into the semi-finals of the 2013 World 9-ball Championship. „Darren Appleton (GBR) gewinnt World 9 Ball Championship 2012 im Finale gegen Lee He Wen (CHN) mit 13-12. In einem wahren Thriller führte Appleton bereits 10-3 und 12-7. Hier ließ er bereits eine große Chance aus das Finale zu gewinnen. Lee He Wen konterte und schaffte den Ausgleich. Bei 12-12 musste Darren Appleton aus einem Save heraus einen Jumpshot spielen, er lochte die 2 und ließ sich diese Chance nicht mehr nehmen…Glückwunsch! Den 3. Platz belegen Ralf Souquet und Naoyuki Oi (JAP).“ Seit dem 18. Juni läuft das Qualifikationsturnier (Stage 1) zur Endrunde (Stage 2) bei der diesjährigen 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft der Herren in Doha/Qatar. Die Auslosung wird am 22. Juni durchgeführt und der offizielle Starschuss fällt dann am 23. Juni. Die Finalrunde (Einfach KO) der letzten 64 Spieler wird vom 27. – 29. Juni laufen.
