The Malaga man, who now lives near Madrid, had beaten a slew of star names en route to ultimate victory – Ralf Souquet, Shane Van Boening, Albin Ouschan and finally Jayson Shaw. Alcaide was so overcome with emotion at the end that he needed to leave the arena and compose himself before the trophy presentation by The Hon Steven Linares, the Gibraltarian Minister of Sport. The gutsy Spaniard picked up a $20,000 payday and more importantly joins a list all-time greats of the game who have held aloft this coveted trophy. David Alcaide (SPA) gewinnt 2017 dafabet World Pool Masters im Finale gegen Jayson Shaw (SCO) mit 8-7. Den 3. Platz belegen Chang Jung-Lin (TW) und Albin Ouschan (AUT). Ab dem kommenden Freitag, den 17. Februar 2017 wird in Gibraltar die 24. Ausgabe des World Pool Masters ausgetragen. Bis zum Sonntag, den 19. Februar werden 16 der besten Pool Billard Spieler der Welt in der Tercentenary Sports Hall um das Gesamtpreisgeld von 80.000$ spielen. Der Gewinner bei diesem von Matchroom Sport organisierten Top-Event kassiert 20.000$. In den letzten beiden Jahren war es US Superstar Shane Van Boening der in sehr überzeugender Manier das World Pool Masters für sich entschieden hat. Team Europe entered the fray carrying a 10-3 lead after dominating the first three days of the competition and they delivered a crushing defeat to an American side that looked out of their depth at times in front of a very vocal 2,000 strong crowd. MVP der Veranstaltung wurde der amtierende 9 Ball Weltmeister Albin Ouschan aus Österreich. Am kommenden Dienstag, den 06. Dezember beginnt in London das aufregendste Pool Billard Event des Jahres. Bis zum darauffolgenden Freitag, den 09. Dezember wird der Mosconi Cup 2016 auch in diesem Jahr alle Pool Billard Fans auf der Welt in zwei Lager spalten. Dieser Kontinentalvergleich zwischen einem Team aus Europa und den USA geht in seine 23. Ausgabe und findet dieses Jahr im Alexandra Palace statt. Der Austragungsort ist u.a. auch bekannt durch die jährlich stattfindenden Darts WM.
