2014 World 9-Ball Supremacy up for grabs in Doha Defending champion Thorsten Hohmann and 127 more of the world’s best pool players set to do battle for pool’s most prestigious prize. These are the enticing elements on offer to pool fans around the globe as the biggest and most prestigious prize in the men’s professional game, the 2014 WPA World 9-ball Championship, goes up for grabs in the searing hot Middle Eastern city of Doha, Qatar, beginning on June 16th and running through June 27th. This will be the fifth straight year that that the tiny Gulf country of Qatar hosts pool’s most prestigious tournament. Once again 128 players from over 40 countries will clash to see who will be crowned the king of 9-ball pool. Chang Yu-Lung (TPE) gewinnt World 9 Ball China Open 2014 im Finale gegen Jeffrey Ignacio (PHI) mit 11-9. Den 3. Platz belegen Carlo Biado (PHI) und Chang Rong-Lin (TPE). Bei den Damen gewinnt die amtierende 9 Ball Weltmeisterin Yu Han (CHN) im Finale gegen Ga Young Kim (KOR) mit 9-5. Den 3. Platz belegen Liu Shasha (CHN) und Chen Siming (CHN). Am kommenden Sonntag, den 01. Juni 2014 beginnt eines der größten Pool Billard Turniere des Jahres. Die World 9 Ball China Open 2014 gehören zu den besten Events im Kalender. Ko Pin-Yi (TW) gewinnt 46th All Japan Championship 2013 im Finale gegen Chang Jung-Lin (TW) mit 11-10. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Thorsten Hohmann (GER) und Johann Gonzales Chua (PHI). Bei den Damen gewinnt Akimi Kajitani (JAP) im Finale gegen Chihiro Kawahara (JAP) mit 9-7. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Tsai Pei Chen (TW) und Chou Chieh Yu (TW). Morgen beginnt in Amagasaki City, Hyogo/Japan die 46. Ausgabe der All Japan Championship 2013. Bei diesem recht hoch dotierten Turnier in Japan ist es jedes Jahr aufs Neue sehr schwer an Informationen zu kommen. Scheinbar legt man in Japan keinerlei Wert darauf das die Pool Billard Seiten dieser Welt mit Informationen versorgt werden. Leider wird auch auf Emails in keinster Weise geantwortet. Vieles bleibt im verborgenen und muss mühsam im Internet zusammengesucht werden. Die 46. With the victory Hohmann now becomes only the second man to win the WPA World 9-ball Championship two times, matching American Earl Strickland, who won pool’s most prestigious crown in 1991 and 2002. „Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt nach 2003 seinen zweiten 9 Ball WM Titel im Finale gegen Antonio Gabica (PHI) mit 13-7. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Carlo Biado (PHI) und Karl Boyes (GBR)!“ Seit heute laufen in Doha/Qatar die Qualifikationsrunden (Stage 1) zum 128er Hauptfeld der diesjährigen 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft. Die World 9 Ball Championship 2013 wird wie im letzten Jahr im Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha stattfinden. Bereits in dieser Qualifikationsrunde sind einige sehr starke Spieler vertreten. Es wird auf 7 Gewinnspiele mit Wechselbreak gespielt, um sich für die Hauptrunde (Stage 2) zu qualifizieren. Die Weltmeisterschaft geht somit vom 02. – 13. September 2013. Am 06. September startet dann das Hauptfeld in 16 Gruppen zu je 8 Spielern. In der Gruppenphase, die auf 9 Gewinnspiele gespielt wird, wird im Doppel-KO System bis zu den Letzten 4 gespielt. Diese 4 Spieler jeder Gruppe ziehen dann in die Endrunde der letzten 64 ein.
