21st September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 Dutch and Finns through to last four Quarter Finals Finland 9-3 England B Holland 9-8 Japan HOLLAND AND FINLAND both made their way through to Sunday’s semi-finals of the 2013 888.com World Cup of Pool with wins over England B and Japan respectively and they will now face each other in the first semi-final on Sunday afternoon. The Dutch had to grind it out against Japan in a hill-hill thriller with both teams struggling at times, while the Finnish pair of Mika Immonen and Petri Makkonen looked in good shape against England B as their title defence continues. In the second match of the session, Japan and Holland both teams shared the opening racks as they tried not to give anything away with so much at stake. 19th September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 Double white-wash for Teams England! Round 1 England A 7-0 Indonesia Round 2 Finland 7-6 Korea England B 7-0 Germany THERE WAS double joy for the two English teams at the 888.com World Cup of Pool as first England A routed Indonesia 7-0 to reach the second round, and then the B team smashed Germany by a similar score line to reach the quarter-finals. Both teams looked in outstanding shape and with them both being in different halves of the draw the possibilities of an all-England final on Sunday night are not out of the question. England A, comprised of former World Champions Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes, looked very much the part as they completed the first round matches with a thumping 7-0 win over Indonesia at the York Hall to set up a second round game against Italy. 17th September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 England B, Holland and Philippines through Holland 7-2 Scotland England B 7-4 Portugal Philippines 7-4 Croatia THERE were wins for three of the fancied teams at the 888.com World Cup of Pool as England B, Holland and the Philippines all made their way into the second round as play continued at the York Hall in London. The Philippines pair of Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza closed out the evening beating Croatia – Karlo Dalmatin and Ivica Putnik – 7-4. The Croatians were in with a chance as they stayed with their opponents in the early stages, but a succession of errors saw the team spirit drain away. With a strong Filipino contingent in the crowd, including the Ambassador, the duo from Manila completed the win. „Team Philippines gewinnt 2013 World Cup of Pool gegen Team Holland mit 10-8. In einem sehr spannenden Finale sind Lee Vann Corteza und Dennis Orcollo ein wenig stabiler und gewinnen gegen Nick van den Berg und Niels Feijen hochverdient. Den 3. Platz belegen die Teams aus Taiwan (Ko Pin-Yi & Chang Jung-Lin) und Finland (Mika Immonen & Petri Makkonen)!“ Vom 17. – 22. September 2013 findet in der Londoner York Hall das wohl aufregendste Pool Billard Event des Jahres statt, der World Cup of Pool. Nach 6 Jahren kehrt die Matchroom Sport Veranstaltung zurück in die legendäre York Hall. An die Stätte, in der im letzten Dezember die Europäer beim Mosconi Cup erfolgreich waren. „Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt nach 2003 seinen zweiten 9 Ball WM Titel im Finale gegen Antonio Gabica (PHI) mit 13-7. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Carlo Biado (PHI) und Karl Boyes (GBR)!“ Seit heute laufen in Doha/Qatar die Qualifikationsrunden (Stage 1) zum 128er Hauptfeld der diesjährigen 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft. Die World 9 Ball Championship 2013 wird wie im letzten Jahr im Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha stattfinden. Bereits in dieser Qualifikationsrunde sind einige sehr starke Spieler vertreten. Es wird auf 7 Gewinnspiele mit Wechselbreak gespielt, um sich für die Hauptrunde (Stage 2) zu qualifizieren. Die Weltmeisterschaft geht somit vom 02. – 13. September 2013. Am 06. September startet dann das Hauptfeld in 16 Gruppen zu je 8 Spielern. In der Gruppenphase, die auf 9 Gewinnspiele gespielt wird, wird im Doppel-KO System bis zu den Letzten 4 gespielt. Diese 4 Spieler jeder Gruppe ziehen dann in die Endrunde der letzten 64 ein. Platz teilen sich Daryl Peach (GBR) und Stephan Cohen (FRA)!“ Nach den Europameisterschaften der Jugendlichen, Senioren und Ladies in den letzten Wochen findet an gleicher Stelle das nächste Euro-Tour Event statt. Im Radon Plaza Hotel in Sarajevo ist alles vorbereitet für die Bosnia & Herzegovina Open 2013. Vom 15. – 17. August werden in der Hauptstadt von Bosnien & Herzegowina eine sehr große Anzahl der besten Spieler Europas am Start sein. Den letzten Euro-Tour Stop in Österreich ende Mai gewann der Niederländer Niels Feijen im Finale gegen den Griechen Alexander Kazakis mit 9-4. Niels Feijen liegt derzeit auch in der Euro-Tour Gesamtrangliste auf Platz 1, gefolgt David Alcaide (SPA) und Albin Ouschan (AUT). Das Gesamtpreisgeld in Sarajevo beträgt 34.000 Euro und bislang sind bei diesem 10 Ball Event mehr als 130 Teilnehmer registriert. Platz teilen sich Ivo Aarts (NED) und Niels Feijen (NED)!“ Am Freitag beginnt in Leuven/Belgien die 5. Ausgabe der Longoni Benelux Open. Die Benelux Open gehören nun seit einigen Jahren zu den Highlights im europäischen Pool Billard Turnierkalender. Das 10 Ball Event zieht jedes Jahr viele Topspieler aus ganz Europa an und das liegt nicht nur am garantierten Preisgeld von 10.000 Euro. Die Organisation sowie die Promotion für dieses Event sind absolut erstklassig. Der Austragungsort ist das Billardlokal De Loft in Leuven. Die Stadt Leuven gehört für mich zu den schönsten Städten in ganz Belgien und ist nicht nur wegen der Benelux Open eine Reise wert. European Championships 2013 – Men, Women & WheelChair

Vom 10. – 20. April kämpfen die europäischen Pool Billard Stars in Portoroz/Slowenien um die EM-Medaillen in den Klassen Damen, Herren und Rollstuhlfahrer. Im Grand Hotel Metropol gehen knapp 220 Spieler aus 32 Nationen an den Start. Bereits im letzten Jahr war die Europameisterschaft ein absolutes Highlight. Neben großartigen Matches war es die stimmungsvolle Atmosphäre an den Schlusstagen, die in Erinnerung geblieben ist. Leider fehlen auch dieses Jahr einige der besten Spieler Europas, wie z.B.: Thorsten Hohmann (GER), Mika Immonen (FIN) oder Darren Appleton (GBR). Im Best Western Premium BHR Hotel werden mehr als 180 Spieler aus ganz Europa an den Start gehen. Das Preisgeld in Treviso beträgt 34.000 Euro und man darf gespannt sein, wer bei dieser 9 Ball Veranstaltung letztendlich als Sieger hervorgeht. Zu den Favoriten gehören in Treviso u.a.
