18/05/2017 Cohen sneaked past Souquet at Dynamic Billard Austrian Open In a dramatic winner’s round 1 match at the Dynamic Billard Austrian Open in Alpina Wellness & Sports Hotel, St. Johann i.Pg., Austria, between the two grandmasters Ralf Souquet (GER) and Stephan Cohen (FRA), Cohen remained the upper hand and bested Souquet by a whisker with 9:8. The first half of the match belonged to Souquet. The German dominated at the table and Cohen struggled to get going. After 13 racks, Souquet was on the hill leading 8:5 over Cohen. At that point in time, the odds for Cohen were close to zero. But Cohen came back. He took some racks an the pressure was on for Souquet. With Souquet being in the lead 8:6, both players went for a time-out. When they got back to the table, it seemed to have worked better for Cohen. Tomorrow, the Dynamic Billard Austrian open will start. 166 players from all over Europe and the Middle East are competing for a total of 36.000,-€ in prize money and coveted ranking points. The whole elite of European pool will be present, including #1 David Alcaide (ESP), # 2 Joshua Filler (GER), #3 Mark Gray (GBR), #4 Niels Feijen (NED) and #5 Ralf Souquet (GER), just to name a few. 10/05/2017 EPBF Announces 2017 Atlantic Challenge Cup Location and Date Teams and Captains To Be Announced In Coming Weeks The European Pocket Billiard Federation today announced the third annual Atlantic Challenge Cup will be held in Klagenfurt, Austria, 5 – 8 July, 2017. On Thursday the 4th of May, the city of Klagenfurt made an official announcement that the Atlantic Challenge Cup will be held at Sportpark Klagenfurt. Specific match times will be announced at a later date. “With around 20 journalists and TV stations present during this announcement, the event promises to be heavily promoted,” said IBPF President David Morris. “Europe has won the first two editions between these two pool giants in 2015 and 2016, but America is determined to improve on its previous showings. 01/04/2017 Van den Berg and Ouschan win the Portuguese Dynamic Open The winners of the Portuguese Dynamic Billard Open are Nick van den Berg (NED) and Jasmin Ouschan (AUT). Nick van den Berg had a huge mountain to climb today. He had really big obstacles in the way on his quest for the glory. Before he met David Alcaide (ESP) in the final match, he had to overcome Vitaly Patsura (UKR) in a heartbreaker with 9:8, then Tomasz Kaplan (POL) 9:6 and in the semi-final match Mark Gray (GBR) with 9:3. Van den Berg played extremely well and solid and this also continued in the final match. Alcaide could not get into the match and missed a few easy shots in the early stage of the match. 31/03/2017 Gray takes the cake four times in a row Mark Gray (GBR) has already taken four victims down in the Dynamic Billard Portuguese Open in Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal. Today in the round of the last 32 men single elimination, Gray wiped the floor with Daniel Tangudd (SWE) and handed him a doughnut, winning the match 9:0. Before that match, Gray’s route to the single elimination stage of the event led over Athanasios Vrakas (GRE) 9:3, Sergey Lutsker (RUS) 9:3 and Marcus Chamat (SWE) 9:1 even. Altogether, Gray allowed his opponents to win seven (7!) racks against him in four matches! What an impressive performance from the Brit so far. Otter remarkable results from today’s rounds include Ronald Regli (SUI) conquering Mieszko Fortunski (POL) 9:8 in winner’s round 2. 29/03/2017 Albin Ouschan is EPBF Player of the Year 2016 At the player’s party of the recently held Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in the Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal, Albin Ouschan (AUT) was awarded the title of EPBF Player of the Year 2016. Five players were in the race for the award. Henrik Larsson (SWE), Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP), Kristina Tkach (RUS), Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) and Albin Ouschan were up for vote. Albin Ouschan was the clear winner in the end, taking all three categories: the public vote, the member vote and the Board and sponsor vote. Probably one huge advantage for him was his achievements in 2016 which include winning the 9-ball World Champion title and the European Champion title in straight pool on his home soil in St. Johann i.Pg, Austria. 28/03/2017 Fisher, Tahti and Chinakhov grab the last Gold Medals At the 2017 Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in the Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal, the Gold Medals in the 9-ball individuals have been awarded. Jouni Tahti (FIN), Kelly Fisher (GBR) and Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) are the title holders for the next year. In the men’s division, Ruslan Chinakhov played against Ronald Regli (SUI) in the final match. Both players have somehow already achieved a huge goal by reaching the final match since the two finalists are automatically qualified for this year’s World Games which will be held in Wroclaw, Poland. 27/03/2017 Austria and Russia take Gold Medals in Team competition At the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in the Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal, the Women’s Team from Russia and the Men’s Team from Austria have won the Gold medals in their respective division. In the men’s division, Team Austria met Team Finland in the final match. The Austrians had ousted the strong Polish Team in their semi-final 2:0 while the Finnish have taken down Team Spain 2:1. The first point for Austria was in the books very quickly. Albin Ouschan won his 9-ball match over Kim Laaksonen 9:2 in just under one hour. That brought Austria the 1:0 lead.
