Van Boening Takes #1 Seed 2nd Year in a Row! 32 Players Eliminated at World 14.1 Photos by Charles Eames New York City, NY – The excitement lasted all day on Day 3 conclusion of the round roin with more than half the field eliminated at the Andy Cloth 75th World Tournament of 14.1 . Van Boening once again dominated his group as he did last year, including lopsided wins over Harriman, Fulcher, and Hernandez. Other players also went undefeated, but couldn’t match Shane’s stat of holding all 6 opponents to 111 balls total. A who’s who of world class players are in attendance to etch their name into history’s elite of the father of all pool games. Allen Hopkins, Danny Barouty & Willie Mosconi to be Inducted into the 2015 Straight Pool Hall of Fame New York City, NY – The votes are in, and Allen Hopkins, Danny Barouty, and Willie Mosconi will all be inducted this year during the Andy Cloth 75th World Tournament of 14.1 . The 5th Annual 14.1 Hall of Fame takes place Wednesday July 15th 8pm with a dinner banquet at Steinway Cafe-Billiards. We are please to announce this year’s ballot list which includes World Champions Allen Hopkins, Nick Varner, and Bobby Hunter in the Greatest Player Category. Mike Eufemia, Danny Barouty, and Tom Jennings are nominated in the Unsung Hero Category. Finally, 19-times World 14.1 winner Willie Mosconi will be honored posthumously in coordination with the 75th edition of The World Tournament of 14.1. Darren Appleton (GBR) gewinnt American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship 2014 im Finale gegen Karen Corr (IRE) mit 150-28. Den 3. Platz belegen Kevin Clark (USA) und Jason Klatt (CAN). Während in Europa vom 12. – 14. September 2014 die 2014 PREDATOR French Open und die Pinneberg Open 2014 ausgetragen werden, finden im Diamond Billiards in Midlothian/Virginia – USA die American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship 2014 statt. Dieses 14.1 Turnier ist quasi der Nachfolger der Maryland Straight Pool Championship, die im Vorjahr von Thorsten Hohmann aus Deutschland gewonnen wurde. Austragungsort ist das Diamond Billiards in Midlothian und das Preisgeld beträgt 25.000$. Davon gehen 5.000$ an den Sieger der American 14.1 Straight Pool Championship 2014. Gespielt wird in den Vorrunden am Freitag und Samstag ein Round Robin System auf 100 Punkte. Am Sonntag wird dann im Achtelfinale auf 125 Punkte gespielt und ab dem Viertelfinale auf 150 Punkte. „Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt The 73rd World Tournament of 14.1 im Finale gegen Darren Appleton (GBR) mit 200-164. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Francisco Bustamante (PHI) und John Schmidt (USA). Im Halbfinale gewann Thorsten Hohmann gegen John Schmidt mit 200-18 und Darren Appleton gegen Francisco Bustamante mit 200-1, dabei gelang Appleton eine 200er Serie!“ Vom 19. – 24. August 2013 findet im Steinway Billiards in Astoria/New York die 73. Ausgabe des World Tournament of 14.1 statt. Das von Dragon Promotions organisierte 14.1 (Straight Pool) Event wird auch als die inoffizielle Weltmeisterschaft in dieser Disziplin gehandelt. In den letzten Jahren gab es immer weniger Straight Pool Turniere aufgrund des immer geringer werdenden Interesses.
