Filler trounced Ortmann in a clash of the generations

31/07/2015 Joshua Filler (GER) powered past former World Champion Oliver Ortmann (GER) 9:2 in the second winner’s round of the Dynamic Billard Austrian Open. The match between the two Germans was really a clash between the generations. On one side Ortmann with all his victories and merits in the past, always to be considered a tough opponent. In the other corner Joshua Filler, young gun on fire who just became third in an international straight pool event in New York, USA. The match was expected a close fight. But it turned out to be everything else but that. To the contrary, Filler started out like a hurricane and played marvelous pool. His break shot was there and he made no mistakes in the early stage of the match. Ortmann’s disadvantage was that his break was not there and Filler punished him for that without mercy. Niels Feijen (NED) gewinnt Austrian Open 2015 im Finale gegen Joshua Filler (GER) mit 9-7. Den 3. Platz belegen Sebastian Ludwig (GER) und Francisco Diaz-Pizarro (SPA). Im Anschluss an die derzeit laufende Pool Billard Europameisterschaft der Junioren in Österreich findet der 4. Euro-Tour Stopp der Saison statt. Im sehr schönen Alpina Sporthotel in St. Johann haben sich bislang mehr als 230 Teilnehmer gemeldet und diese werden vom 30. Juli – 01. August 2015 um das Gesamtpreisgeld von 34.000€ spielen. Die letzte Euro-Tour fand zuletzt Anfang Juni im nordhessischen Baunatal statt und der Gewinner der German Open 2015 hieß am Ende Petri Makkonen aus Finnland, er bezwang im Finale Konrad Juszczyszyn aus Polen mit 9-3. Wir sind gespannt ob Petri Makkonen seine gute Form halten konnte und auch in St. Johann eine Siegchance haben wird. Die insgesamt mehr als 230 Meldungen sind ein Ausrufezeichen, das die Euro-Tour, entgegen vieler Aussagen, am Ende ist. In der kommenden Woche vom 21. – 28. Juli 2015 werden in St. Johann/Österreich bei der Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth 2015 die besten europäischen Nachwuchstalente auf die Jagd nach Medaillen gehen. Und natürlich zählen auch einige Deutsche Teilnehmer zu den Favoriten. Im letzten Jahr waren die deutschen Schüler und Jugendlichen die erfolgreichste Nation bei der Europameisterschaft 2014 in Portoroz/Slowenien, sie gewannen den Medaillenspiegel mit 5x Gold und 3x Bronze. Eines der hoffnungsvollsten deutschen Pool Billard Talente wird leider in St. Johann nicht am Start sein. Die Rede ist von Joshua Filler vom Deutschen Pool Billard Mannschaftsmeister PBC Schwerte, er wurde vom deutschen Billardverband leider für diese EM gesperrt. Warum und weshalb? Van Boening Takes #1 Seed 2nd Year in a Row! 32 Players Eliminated at World 14.1 Photos by Charles Eames New York City, NY – The excitement lasted all day on Day 3 conclusion of the round roin with more than half the field eliminated at the Andy Cloth 75th World Tournament of 14.1 . Van Boening once again dominated his group as he did last year, including lopsided wins over Harriman, Fulcher, and Hernandez. Other players also went undefeated, but couldn’t match Shane’s stat of holding all 6 opponents to 111 balls total. Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt The 75th World Tournament of 14.1 2015 im Finale gegen Titelverteidiger Darren Appleton (GBR) mit 300-244. Den 3. Platz belegen Reiner Wirsbitzki (GER) und Warren Kiamco (PHI). Am nächsten Montag startet in New York die 75. Ausgabe des World Tournament of 14.1 (Straight Pool). Vom 13. – 19. Juli 2015 werden im sehr bekannten Steinway Billiards viele der Besten Straight Pool Spieler der Welt an den Start gehen. Dieses von Dragon Promotions organisierte Pool Billard Event zählt zu den letzten wirklich großen 14.1 Veranstaltungen auf der ganzen Welt. Im Grunde ist diese Disziplin ziemlich stark vom Aussterben bedroht, wenn man sich die weltweite Turnierlandschaft anschaut. Irrtümlicherweise wird das World Tournament of 14.1 oft als Weltmeisterschaft bezeichnet. Dafür müsste es von der World Pool Billiard Association unterstützt werden und das Preisgeld eine bestimmte Höhe haben. Natürlich gibt es seitens der WPA noch einige Auflagen mehr, damit dieses 14.1 Turnier als offizielle WM durchgeht. 05/06/2015 It was definitely a day of many surprises at the Dynamic Billard German Open in Baunatal, Germany, today. The tournament is down to the final 16 players now. The round of the last 32 players was the last round of the day and many surprises happened. One feature match was the encounter between Albin Ouschan (AUT) and Oliver Ortmann (GER). They met on table 1 and the match was an ongoing fight over the whole distance. Ouschan went on the hill first, taking an 8:7 lead over Ortmann. But the German fought back and got to the hill himself, tying the match at 8:8. The drama was so real and present in the venue. Many spectators held their breath when Ortmann broke and pocketed a ball, but the necessary conditions for a legal break were not met so Ouschan got to the table. He cleared the table until he got to the 7-ball. The positions he played got harder and harder and consequently, Ouschan missed the 7-ball since he had to jack up his […]

Petri Makkonen (FIN) gewinnt German Open 2015 im Finale gegen Konrad Juszczyszyn (POL) mit 9-3. Den 3. Platz belegen Florian Hammer (GER) und Karl Boyes (GBR). Vom 04. – 06. Juni 2015 finden im nordhessischen Baunatal die German Open 2015 statt. Im August 2011 gab es zuletzt einen Euro-Tour Stopp in Deutschland, dieses damals in Brandenburg ausgetragene 10 Ball Pool Billard Event, die German Open 2011, gewann der Schweizer Dimitri Jungo im Finale gegen Serge Das (BEL) mit 8-5. In Baunatal laufen die Vorbereitungen für diese 9 Ball Veranstaltung auf Hochtouren und es werden mehr als 150 Pool Billard Spieler in der Stadthalle Baunatal an den Start gehen. Natürlich kommt der Großteil der Teilnehmer aus Deutschland, dennoch werden viele europäischen Top-Spieler am nächsten Wochenende erwartet. Im April 2015 fand das letzte Turnier der Euro-Tour statt, in Portugal hieß der Gewinner Mateusz Sniegocki (POL), er gewann die Portuguese Open 2015 ziemlich souverän im Finale gegen Marcus Chamat (SWE) mit 9-3.
