4th December – 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Europe storm to another MC victory EUROPE 11-5 USA Darren Appleton 5-2 Shane Van Boening Nikos Ekonomopoulos 5-2 Shane Van Boening TEAM EUROPE won the 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup, beating the USA 11-5 in front of a boisterous crowd at the Tower Circus, Blackpool. The score line was their joint second best winning margin and leaves the Americans with some soul-searching to do as they attempt to get back into competitive shape for the annual transatlantic 9 ball showdown. Leading 9-5 going into the final session, the Europeans wanted just two points for the glory and two matches were all that were needed as first Darren Appleton beat Shane Van Boening 5-2 and then Nikos Ekonomopoulos did the same by a similar score to seal a one-sided victory for Europe. The US though, topped and tailed the session with wins but looked slack in the middle as the Euros asserted themselves with three wins. Trailing 6-3 going into the final match, it took a moment of magic from Shane Van Boening as he executed a hugely difficult shot to perfection to set up the US win and keep their Mosconi Cup hope alive. Dezember 2014 findet in Blackpool/UK der diesjährige Mosconi Cup statt. 21st October – 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup America’s five for Blackpool announced WITH JUST six weeks to go until the 21st annual PartyPoker Mosconi Cup breaks off at the Tower Circus in Blackpool, Team USA skipper Mark Wilson has named his five players to take on the huge task of winning back pool’s most prestigious team trophy. Having assembled a squad of eight players at the start of the year, Wilson has now reduced that to the five players who will do battle against their European counterparts. Team USA set for BCA Summit 2014 Mosconi squad to visit industry expo WITH THE ANNUAL billiards industry gathering set for the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville from 25th to 27th June, American PartyPoker Mosconi Cup captain Mark Wilson is delighted to announce that his team will be in attendance for the duration of the event. 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup – Team USA – Captain’s Report May/June 2014 In preparation for the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup XXI to be held December 1st through 4th in Blackpool, England, we assembled Team USA in San Diego, California for our very first team get-together. In our first team meeting we covered the tentative schedule for the year, and discussed what is expected of the team. Honor, integrity, professionalism, and dedication to training were discussed as the goals for the team. We introduced Lieutenant Commander (retired) Amir Pishdad, a legendary Navy SEAL, who was our host for the weekend. Amir is an extremely inspirational and motivational speaker, and he is expert in the principles of intense training, and the true meaning of honor, integrity, and teamwork. His assistance, inspiration, and motivation were such that by the end of the weekend, the team made him an honorary member of Team USA; and we hope to have him present to advise us during the Cup competition in Blackpool.
