21st October – 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup America’s five for Blackpool announced WITH JUST six weeks to go until the 21st annual PartyPoker Mosconi Cup breaks off at the Tower Circus in Blackpool, Team USA skipper Mark Wilson has named his five players to take on the huge task of winning back pool’s most prestigious team trophy. Having assembled a squad of eight players at the start of the year, Wilson has now reduced that to the five players who will do battle against their European counterparts. They are: Cory Deuel (7 Mosconi Cup appearances) Shane Van Boening (6 Mosconi Cup appearances) John Schmidt (1 Mosconi Cup appearance) Justin Hall (debut) Justin Bergman (debut) In order to maximise their chances of glory, Wilson will be bringing the whole squad to Blackpool with the three non-playing members filling very specific roles as he leaves no stone unturned. 6th October, 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Gray: „It’s one of my biggest achievements.“ ENGLAND’S MARK GRAY gets a chance to win his second PartyPoker Mosconi Cup as he took the first of the automatic qualifying spots at the weekend. Gray, 41, completed a superb run at the Dutch Open in Leende, beating Nik Ekonomopoulus in the final to top the five event Euro Tour series. Gray, who was on the winning side in Malta in 2008, lost early in the event to Karl Boyes and had to battle his way through the losers side of the bracket to reach the straight knock-out last 32. “It’s amazing really that it goes all the way to the final to decide who gets the spot!” he said. “I’m over the moon to be playing in the Mosconi again as it’s only my second time on the team. Grabe Closing In On Mosconi Spot September 05 – 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Denis Grabe heads Team Europe’s Euro Tour rankings with one event to play as the Estonian bids to earn a first appearance in the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup in Blackpool, England this December. There are three automatic spots available on Team Europe drawn from three separate rankings and Grabe heads the Euro Tour list after winning both events he has entered this season; the Austrian Open and the Slovenian Open. Team USA set for BCA Summit 2014 Mosconi squad to visit industry expo WITH THE ANNUAL billiards industry gathering set for the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville from 25th to 27th June, American PartyPoker Mosconi Cup captain Mark Wilson is delighted to announce that his team will be in attendance for the duration of the event. Euro Race for Spots Hotting Up 10th June, 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup WITH FOUR EVENTS now completed, the race to claim the three automatic berths on the 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup European side is well underway. This year, there are three separate ranking lists in operation – the first comprised of a five event Euro Tour series; the second a three event ‘World’ series and the last a combined ranking of the two. At the close of the qualification series in October, the No.1 ranked player on each of the three lists will be named as part of Team Europe as they look to defend their title at the Tower Circus, Blackpool from 1st to 4th December. 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup – Team USA – Captain’s Report May/June 2014 In preparation for the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup XXI to be held December 1st through 4th in Blackpool, England, we assembled Team USA in San Diego, California for our very first team get-together. In our first team meeting we covered the tentative schedule for the year, and discussed what is expected of the team. Honor, integrity, professionalism, and dedication to training were discussed as the goals for the team. We introduced Lieutenant Commander (retired) Amir Pishdad, a legendary Navy SEAL, who was our host for the weekend. Amir is an extremely inspirational and motivational speaker, and he is expert in the principles of intense training, and the true meaning of honor, integrity, and teamwork. His assistance, inspiration, and motivation were such that by the end of the weekend, the team made him an honorary member of Team USA; and we hope to have him present to advise us during the Cup competition in Blackpool.
