22nd September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 Philippines edge the Dutch in World Cup thriller The Finals Philippines 10-8 Holland TEAM PHILIPPINES made up of Lee Vann Corteza and Dennis Orcollo became 888.com World Cup of Pool champions as they beat Holland in a thrilling conclusion after an action-packed final that illustrated the sheer excitement of top level pool. The match ebbed and flowed and reached a climactic final stage that saw both teams buckle before the Filipinos redeemed themselves sinking the 8 and 9 for the title and $60,000 top prize. It was the third win for the Philippines in the eight year history of the event, following wins for Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante in 2006 and 2009. 21st September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 Dutch and Finns through to last four Quarter Finals Finland 9-3 England B Holland 9-8 Japan HOLLAND AND FINLAND both made their way through to Sunday’s semi-finals of the 2013 888.com World Cup of Pool with wins over England B and Japan respectively and they will now face each other in the first semi-final on Sunday afternoon. The Dutch had to grind it out against Japan in a hill-hill thriller with both teams struggling at times, while the Finnish pair of Mika Immonen and Petri Makkonen looked in good shape against England B as their title defence continues. In the second match of the session, Japan and Holland both teams shared the opening racks as they tried not to give anything away with so much at stake. With England B already through to the weekend’s quarter finals, the A team followed them in as they came from behind to beat the plucky Italian pairing of Bruno Muratore and Fabio Petroni. 17th September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 England B, Holland and Philippines through Holland 7-2 Scotland England B 7-4 Portugal Philippines 7-4 Croatia THERE were wins for three of the fancied teams at the 888.com World Cup of Pool as England B, Holland and the Philippines all made their way into the second round as play continued at the York Hall in London. The Philippines pair of Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza closed out the evening beating Croatia – Karlo Dalmatin and Ivica Putnik – 7-4. The Croatians were in with a chance as they stayed with their opponents in the early stages, but a succession of errors saw the team spirit drain away. With a strong Filipino contingent in the crowd, including the Ambassador, the duo from Manila completed the win. „Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt nach 2003 seinen zweiten 9 Ball WM Titel im Finale gegen Antonio Gabica (PHI) mit 13-7. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Carlo Biado (PHI) und Karl Boyes (GBR)!“ Seit heute laufen in Doha/Qatar die Qualifikationsrunden (Stage 1) zum 128er Hauptfeld der diesjährigen 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft. Die World 9 Ball Championship 2013 wird wie im letzten Jahr im Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha stattfinden. Bereits in dieser Qualifikationsrunde sind einige sehr starke Spieler vertreten. Es wird auf 7 Gewinnspiele mit Wechselbreak gespielt, um sich für die Hauptrunde (Stage 2) zu qualifizieren. Die Weltmeisterschaft geht somit vom 02. – 13. September 2013. Am 06. September startet dann das Hauptfeld in 16 Gruppen zu je 8 Spielern. In der Gruppenphase, die auf 9 Gewinnspiele gespielt wird, wird im Doppel-KO System bis zu den Letzten 4 gespielt. Platz belegen Ivo Aarts (NED) und Marc Bijsterbosch (NED)!“ Im niederländischen Goes findet vom 29. August – 01. September 2013 die Lucasi Hybrid Open 2013 statt. Die Stadt Goes gehört zur Gemeinde Zeeland und es sind nur wenige Kilometer bis zur Küste. Viele Spieler werden die Chance nutzen für einen Zwischenstopp. Das 9 Ball Event im Sportpub Goes ist ziemlich gut besetzt und verspricht sehr unterhaltsame Matches. Es werden 4 Qualifikationsgruppen gespielt, aus diesen Gruppen gehen die besten 4 bzw. 8 Spieler in die Finalrunde am Sonntag, den 1. September. In dieser Finalrunde der letzten 64 sind bereits 36 Plätze fest vergeben, sogenannte Direct Entries. Diese Startplätze in der Finalrunde verlangen selbstverständlich ein höheres Startgeld. Hangelar Open 2013 – The very special Edition

geschrieben von Christopher Pöschl Die Jubiläumsausgabe der Hangelar Open zum 25jährigen Geburtstag des 1. PBC Sankt Augustin und des Billardcenters Hangelar sollte eine besondere werden – in vielerlei Hinsicht! Doch eines nach dem anderen. Als wir im Januar 2013 mit den Detailplanungen begannen, war das Ziel eindeutig definiert. Es sollte ein noch hochwertigeres, noch besseres, noch schöneres Event werden als in den Jahren zuvor. Schwierige Aufgabe für das Orga-Team, denn aus unserer Sicht waren auch die letzten Open schon ein schöner Erfolg. Nach kurzer Überlegung dann die Definition des Ziels: Hong Kong Challenge „reloaded“! Also schnell mal Kontakt mit unserem Freund Earl Strickland aufgenommen und nachgefragt, ob er sich das vorstellen könne. Die Antwort kam schnell und war eindeutig: sehr gerne! Nun mussten wir nur noch „The Magician“ Efren Reyes für uns gewinnen. Nach einigen Mails stand auch hier fest, dass unser Traum in Erfüllung gehen sollte.
