8th June – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Makkonen makes a move FINLAND’S PETRI MAKKONEN landed his maiden Euro Tour title in Germany at the weekend and as he crashed the European Mosconi Cup rankings and put himself in the frame for a December trip to Las Vegas. The 27 year-old Finn came through a stellar field at Baunatal and defeated Konrad Juszczyszyn of Poland in the championship match to claim the 20 ranking points. The win put Makkonen into second place on the Euro Tour ranking list, three points behind Niels Feijen. He also moved into third position on the Combined ranking list, a single point behind joint leaders Marcus Chamat and David Alcaide. There are three separate ranking lists in operation – the first comprised of a five event Euro Tour series; the second a four event ‘World’ series and the last a combined ranking of the two. 05/06/2015 It was definitely a day of many surprises at the Dynamic Billard German Open in Baunatal, Germany, today. The tournament is down to the final 16 players now. The round of the last 32 players was the last round of the day and many surprises happened. One feature match was the encounter between Albin Ouschan (AUT) and Oliver Ortmann (GER). They met on table 1 and the match was an ongoing fight over the whole distance. Ouschan went on the hill first, taking an 8:7 lead over Ortmann. But the German fought back and got to the hill himself, tying the match at 8:8. The drama was so real and present in the venue. Many spectators held their breath when Ortmann broke and pocketed a ball, but the necessary conditions for a legal break were not met so Ouschan got to the table. Petri Makkonen (FIN) gewinnt German Open 2015 im Finale gegen Konrad Juszczyszyn (POL) mit 9-3. Den 3. Platz belegen Florian Hammer (GER) und Karl Boyes (GBR). Vom 04. – 06. Juni 2015 finden im nordhessischen Baunatal die German Open 2015 statt. Im August 2011 gab es zuletzt einen Euro-Tour Stopp in Deutschland, dieses damals in Brandenburg ausgetragene 10 Ball Pool Billard Event, die German Open 2011, gewann der Schweizer Dimitri Jungo im Finale gegen Serge Das (BEL) mit 8-5. In Baunatal laufen die Vorbereitungen für diese 9 Ball Veranstaltung auf Hochtouren und es werden mehr als 150 Pool Billard Spieler in der Stadthalle Baunatal an den Start gehen. Natürlich kommt der Großteil der Teilnehmer aus Deutschland, dennoch werden viele europäischen Top-Spieler am nächsten Wochenende erwartet. Alex Lely (NED) gewinnt 2015 Deurne City Classic im Finale gegen Oliver Ortmann (GER) mit 9-5. Den 3. Platz belegen Joshua Filler (GER) und Carlos Cabello (SPA). Am kommenden Donnerstag, den 28. Mai 2015 startet in Deurne/Niederlande die 3. Ausgabe des Deurne City Classic. Bis zum 01. Juni 2015 werden in Deurne viele Topstars der Pool Billard Szene an den Start gehen und um ein Gesamtpreisgeld von 20.000 Euro spielen. Das Deurne City Classic war bereits in den letzten beiden Jahren zuvor ein mehr als Außergewöhnliches Pool Billard Event. Das DCC ist ähnlich aufgebaut wie das in der Pool Billard Welt sehr bekannte Derby City Classic, das jedes Jahr im Januar in den USA stattfindet. 27th April – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Chamat enters fray as race hots up MARCUS CHAMAT, who was recently named as captain of the 2015 European PartyPoker Mosconi Cup team is on course to land one of the three automatic spots following a runners-up spot in the recent Portuguese Open on the Euro Tour. The 39 year-old Swede was beaten by Poland’s Mateusz Sniegocki in the championship match, but the 16 pts earned coupled with his existing points tally, move him to a tie for first in the Combined Ranking along with David Alcaide (Spain) and Holland’s Niels Feijen. Mateusz Sniegocki (POL) gewinnt Portuguese Open 2015 im Finale gegen Marcus Chamat (SWE) mit 9-3. Den 3. Platz belegen Mario He (AUT) und Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (SPA). Auch die besten Pool Billard Spieler Europas gehen direkt nach der Europameisterschaft in Vale do Lobo/Portugal auf die Jagd nach wichtigen Punkten für das Euro-Tour Ranking und das Gesamtpreisgeld von 34.000 Euro. Die Portuguese Open 2015 versprechen ziemlich interessant zu werden, weil viele der Teilnehmer nach zehn Tagen EM Stress nicht mehr ganz frisch sein werden. Können sich die Medaillengewinner noch mal motivieren oder werden die frisch angereisten Teilnehmer den längeren Atem haben? Wir glauben, dass die Engländer wie z.B. Mark Gray, Imran Majid, Karl Boyes oder Daryl Peach, die nicht an der Pool Billard Europameisterschaft teilgenommen haben, große Siegchancen haben werden. Am Sonntag, den 12. April beginnen in Vale do Lobo/Portugal die diesjährigen Pool Billard Europameisterschaften der Damen, Herren und Rollstuhlfahrer. Bis zum 22. April 2015 werden in Portugal die Europameister der Disziplinen 8 Ball, 9 Ball, 14.1, 10 Ball und Team gesucht. Insgesamt gehen mehr als 180 Pool Billard Spieler aus 36 Nationen im sehr schönen Ria Park Hotel in Vale do Lobo an den Start. Natürlich wird auch dieses Jahr von fast allen Teilnehmern einiges abverlangt. In 10 Tagen werden in allen Disziplinen die Medaillen ausgespielt und der Turnierplan ist ziemlich üppig gestaltet. Über den Sinn und Unsinn dieses Ablaufs bei einer Europameisterschaft wurde bereits viel diskutiert. Die meisten Topspieler tendieren zu deutlich weniger Disziplinen und zu einem Zweijahresrhythmus. Das hätte u. a. den Vorteil das ein Europameister weitaus mehr Chancen hätte seinen Titel „auszukosten“ und gewinnbringend zu vermarkten. Wer weiß, vielleicht wird ja bereits innerhalb der EPBF darüber diskutiert und wir werden in den nächsten Jahren ein Umdenken erleben. Andreas Björndal (SWE) gewinnt Interpool Open 2015 im Finale gegen Marcus Chamat (SWE) mit 11-6. Den 3. Platz belegen Casper Matikainen (FIN) und Andreas Gerwen (SWE). Am Donnerstag, den 02. April 2015 beginnen in Gävle/Schweden die Interpool Open 2015. Dieses Pool Billard Turnier ist mittlerweile fester Bestandteil im europäischen Pool Billard Turnierkalender und ist von Jahr zu Jahr besser besucht. Bis zum 05. April 2015 werden bei diesem Handicap-Turnier viele skandinavische Spieler zusammen mit einigen absoluten Topstars der Szene um das Gesamtpreisgeld von 10.000 Euro spielen. Neben der Hauptveranstaltung, 9 Ball mit Handicap, gibt es noch die Special Events Pro/Am, Shoot-Out und die 10 Ball Challenge für die stärksten Spieler im Interpool. Auch ein Damenfeld wird in diesem Jahr ausgetragen und auch hier ist das Starterfeld sehr gut besucht. Das Handicap 9 Ball Turnier sorgt in jedem Jahr für sehr spannende Matches, je nach Begegnung kann es sein das ein Spieler bereits mit einem 0-8 ins Rennen geht. Last year’s MVP Niels Feijen (Holland) leads on the Euro Tour list, having won the Treviso Open in Italy at the weekend.
