6th October – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Feijen set for MC Number 11 FOLLOWING ON from his last 16 finish at the recent Dutch Open on the Euro Tour, Holland’s much decorated Niels Feijen can ready himself for his 11th appearance pulling on the blue European jersey at PartyPoker Mosconi Cup XXII at the Tropicana in December. The athletic Dutchman first competed in 2001 when Europe was hammered at the York Hall. His next two appearances also saw defeat before he became part of the group of European players who enjoyed almost total domination of the event from 2007 onwards. The 38 year-old Feijen will become tied third on the European list of appearances as well as tied fifth on the Mosconi Cup all-time appearances list. 18 September – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup WITH A RELATIVELY poor showing for Europe’s stars at the WPA World 9 Ball Championship in Qatar, there has been minimal movement on the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup ranking list. The highest finisher was Poland’s Wojciech Szewczyk who reached the last eight to earn 15 points and give himself an outside shot at both the World and Combined list. Albin Ouschan (Austria) maintained his lead at the top of the World Ranking and a high finish at the US Open next month could see him make his Mosconi Cup debut in December. He leads Spain’s David Alcaide by five points with seasoned MC players Mika Immonen and Darren Appleton a further five points back. The Combined list is still topped by Niels Feijen who was out of the points in Doha but Ouschan is well placed, just four points behind with two events to be played. 25th August – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Van Boening is first man in for Team USA Shane Van Boening is set to make his ninth Mosconi Cup outing this December, putting him joint seventh on the all-time list of appearances at the annual USA v Europe 9 ball showdown. Van Boening’s third place finish at the recently completed Turning Stone Classic puts him in an unassailable position and he will finish the points race in the number one spot whatever happens at the final event, the US Open in October. “It’s a great honor for me to be on the Mosconi Cup team for the 9th year in a row. 8th June – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Makkonen makes a move FINLAND’S PETRI MAKKONEN landed his maiden Euro Tour title in Germany at the weekend and as he crashed the European Mosconi Cup rankings and put himself in the frame for a December trip to Las Vegas. The 27 year-old Finn came through a stellar field at Baunatal and defeated Konrad Juszczyszyn of Poland in the championship match to claim the 20 ranking points. The win put Makkonen into second place on the Euro Tour ranking list, three points behind Niels Feijen. He also moved into third position on the Combined ranking list, a single point behind joint leaders Marcus Chamat and David Alcaide. There are three separate ranking lists in operation – the first comprised of a five event Euro Tour series; the second a four event ‘World’ series and the last a combined ranking of the two. 21th April – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup FOLLOWING THE Super Billiards Expo 10 Ball Championship which concluded at the weekend, Shane Van Boening maintained his lead at the top of the 2015 PartyPoker USA Mosconi Cup ranking. Van Boening was the highest placed American, finishing in fourth spot and has now opened up a 23 point lead over his nearest rival, Justin Bergman who kept his second spot with a 17th place finish. Scott Frost, who has yet to compete in a Mosconi Cup, edged his way into the shake-up as he leap-frogged both Jeremy Sossei and Skyler Woodward to claim a tie for second. The event was won by Dennis Orcollo who beat Scotland$B!G(Js Jayson Shaw in a close run final. Shaw$B!G(Js high finish is another result which boosts his chances of a Team Europe wild card when both teams are finalised in October. 9th April – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup SWEDEN’S MARCUS CHAMAT, a six-time Mosconi Cup veteran, will take the helm for Team Europe when the 2015 event takes place at the Tropicana in Las Vegas in December. The 39 year-old Swede was the life and soul of the team when Europe won for only the second time in 2002 and has an overall record of 11 victories from 26 Mosconi Cup matches played. 26th March, 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup Tickets on sale from Thursday 26th March FOLLOWING A SELL-OUT event last year, tickets for the 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup will be on sale from Thursday 26th March. Taking place from Monday December 7 to Thursday December 10, the Europe v USA showdown is hosted for the first time at The New Tropicana Las Vegas. The defending champions are Team Europe who won their fifth consecutive title in Blackpool, England in December 2014. Now making its seventh appearance in Las Vegas, the Mosconi Cup is pool’s biggest brand and it features two five-man teams competing in a series of singles and doubles matches over the four days. Team Europa gewinnt den Mosconi Cup XXI gegen Team USA deutlich mit 11-5. MVP der Veranstaltung wurde der amtierende 9 Ball Weltmeister Niels Feijen aus den Niederlanden. Wie jedes Jahr ist ende November bis anfang Dezember für die meisten Pool Billard Fans auf der ganzen Welt ein besonderer Zeitraum. Vom 01. – 04. Dezember 2014 findet in Blackpool/UK der diesjährige Mosconi Cup statt. Das traditionelle Mannschaftsevent zwischen einem Team aus Europa und einem Team aus den USA sorgt bereits im Vorfeld für viele Emotionen, wie man sie nur von Matchroom Sport Veranstaltungen kennt. 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup – Team USA – Captain’s Report May/June 2014 In preparation for the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup XXI to be held December 1st through 4th in Blackpool, England, we assembled Team USA in San Diego, California for our very first team get-together. In our first team meeting we covered the tentative schedule for the year, and discussed what is expected of the team. Honor, integrity, professionalism, and dedication to training were discussed as the goals for the team. We introduced Lieutenant Commander (retired) Amir Pishdad, a legendary Navy SEAL, who was our host for the weekend. Amir is an extremely inspirational and motivational speaker, and he is expert in the principles of intense training, and the true meaning of honor, integrity, and teamwork. His assistance, inspiration, and motivation were such that by the end of the weekend, the team made him an honorary member of Team USA; and we hope to have him present to advise us during the Cup competition in Blackpool.
