Preview: 2017 GB9 Paul Medati Trophy

Pool players around the UK will be returning to Telford in June as the 9th annual Paul Medati Trophy once again takes place at the Park Inn by Raddison hotel. Players of all disciplines, not least 9-ball and snooker, will have memories of Paul as a player and a genuinely great person. Paul started in the snooker ranks, becoming a professional player in his earlier life before turning to 9-ball. Paul played in the inaugural season of GB9 back in 2008 before sadly losing his battle with cancer shortly afterwards. Paul is remembered as one of the friendliest players on tour and was rarely seen without a smile on his face. The event was dedicated to Paul in 2009 and has been hosted every year since, becoming one of the most sought after titles of the year. Event Report: 2015 GB9 Paul Medati Trophy, the Rasson Billiards Pro Cup & Challenge Cup Article by Martyn Royce The second tournament weekend of the GB9 calendar has come to its conclusion with Craig Osborne, Darryn Walker and Benji Buckley taking the share of the spoils at the 2015 Paul Medati Trophy. OZZY ROCKS THE FIELD IN PAUL MEDATI TROPHY The seventh annual Paul Medati Trophy came down to two long standing British 9-ball players. One was Craig Osborne, looking for his first main event win in almost 4 years. The other was two time UPC 9-ball champion Benji Buckley, looking for his maiden GB9 main event title. Welsh opposition was first in line for Osborne as John Davies stood in way of the next round. He was comfortably dispatched, however, and a 9-3 win saw Osborne through to the second winners round to face Matthew Christopher.
