Final 16 Set In Vegas For The WPA Players Championship

Playing in a round of 32 match against Hall of Famer Mika Immonen and down 6-2 in a race to 7 alternate break match, there was little chance for the talented Filipino to come back. But the pool gods started to conspire against the great Finn, and Chua slowly clawed his way into contention. As that happened, Immonen clearly began to lose his composure, which only imbued the Filipino with confidence. Chua tied the match at 6, sending proceedings into overtime, where he won the next two to advance 8-6. “I saw him getting frustrated when I started to come back and that gave me a lot of confidence,” a relieved Chua said afterward. “Once he started to miss and give up the table, I knew I was back in the match. Draw made for US Open 9-Ball Championship

The draw for the 43rd US Open 9-Ball Championship has been made, with Jayson Shaw to begin his defense against Marcus Westen at Mandalay Bay Resort, Las Vegas on Sunday, April 21. The draw was seeded with a golf-style category system adopted, which took in rankings from across the pool world including WPA World Ranking, BCA Standings and Fargo Rating. As defending champion Shaw was seeded No.1, while five-time US Open champion Shane van Boening is seeded second as the highest ranked American player. Broadcast details for the 2019 US Open 9-Ball Championship will be announced shortly. Battle of Straight Pool 2019 Datum: 20.07.2019, Beginn 11:00 Das 14.1-Turnier der Extraklasse kommt nach Bergisch Gladbach ins Pool & Blues. Gespielt wird ein 32er-Feld im Doppel-K.O., Race to 150 Balls. Die letzten acht spielen anschließend im Einfach-K.O.-Modus den Sieger aus. Nachdem die Battle of Straight Pool 2017 beim BSC Shooters Mettmann viel Anklang fand beschloss das Team der BoSP: Wir kommen wieder! Auf der Deutschen Meisterschaft in Bad Wildungen wurde dann der Entschluss gefasst, dass 2019 eine weitere Auflage stattfindet. Durch meine Teilnahme an der DM in Bad Wildungen in der Disziplin 14.1 konnte ich mit vielen Spielern in den Austausch gehen. Nach zwei Tagen hatte ich schon zwölf Spieler auf der Meldeliste, also ging es jetzt dran, ein Lokal zu finden, um ein 32er-Feld auf die Beine zu stellen. Mit dem Team des Pool & Blues und der Unterstützung von Christian Reimering habe ich den idealen Spielort gefunden. Bei den German Pool Masters wurde dann der Grundstein gelegt. WPA Players Championship 2019

Vom 12.-19. April steigen bei Griff’s Billiards in Las Vegas die ersten WPA Players Championship. Direkt vor den US Open ist ein Großteil der Weltelite bereits vor Ort und kämpft in einem 64er-Feld um satte 50.000 Dollar Added Money. 48 Spieler sind für die Hauptrunde gesetzt, 16 weitere werden an den ersten vier Tagen in vier Qualifiern ermittelt. Die beiden deutschen Teilnehmer Ralf Souquet und Thorsten Hohmann sind für die Hauptrunde gesetzt und steigen am 16. April ins Geschehen ein. Die Favoritenliste ist einmal mehr so lang, dass es schwer fällt jemanden herauszupicken. Mit dabei sind u.a. Shane van Boening, Jayson Shaw, Eklent Kaci, Niels Feijen, Chang Jung Lin, Ko Pin-Yi und Ko Ping-Chung, Carlo Biado, Sky Woodward und Alex Pagulayan. Gespielt wird im Hauptfeld ein Einfach-K.O., 9-Ball, Race to 7 mit der Besonderheit, dass ein Satz mit zwei Racks Vorsprung gewonnen werden muss. Ruijsink returns as a coach; van Boening and Woodward confirmed for Team USA

Johan Ruijsink will coach Team USA for a third time at this year’s partypoker Mosconi Cup and will have Shane van Boening and Skyler Woodward on his team at Mandalay Bay Resort, Las Vegas this November 25-28. Ruijsink guided USA to their 12th partypoker Mosconi Cup title and first in nine years when they shocked Team Europe with an 11-9 success at Alexandra Palace, London last December. Woodward collected the MVP award, while it was Van Boening who made the winning 9-ball for a famous victory. Both players will return to the team in 2019 and will be joined by three further players to be selected by Ruijsink. David Alcaide besiegt Alex Kazakis in einem absoluten Thriller nach Rückständen von 0:5 und 5:8 noch mit 9:8 und gewinnt durch einen spektakulären Bank-Shot auf die finale neun zum zweiten Mal nach 2017 das World Pool Masters! Vom 29.-31.03. findet in Gibraltar das nächste große Matchroom-Event statt! 24 der besten Spieler der Welt kämpfen beim World Pool Masters 2019 um insgesamt 100.000 Dollar Preisgeld, wovon allein 25.000 an den Sieger gehen. Wer schnappt sich dieses prestigeträchtige Event, das wie immer im Winner-Break-Modus gespielt wird? Los gehts mit Race to 7, das Finale geht bis 9. Favoriten sind in diesem Weltklassefeld kaum auszumachen. Sicher muss man den zweifachen Champion Shane van Boening aus den USA ebenso auf dem Schirm haben wie Niels Feijen, der im Vorjahr auch bereits seinen zweiten World-Pool-Masters Triumph feiern konnte und als Titelverteidiger anreist. Vom 28.-31.03. steigt im Greater Philadelphia Expo Center die Super Billiards Expo 2019. Vier Tage lang dreht sich alles um Queues, Kugeln, Tische und mehr. Und natürlich gibt es neben unzähligen offenen Turnieren aller Art auch wieder Pro-Events für Männer und Frauen, die kaum weniger stark besetzt sind als das zeitgleich stattfindende World Pool Masters in Gibraltar. Bei den Herren sind aus deutscher Sicht Thorsten Hohmann und Ralph Eckert beim 10-Ball Main-Event am Start. Dazu gesellen sich Topspieler wie Darren Appleton, John Morra und die amerikanischen Mosconi-Cup-Helden Billy Thorpe und Tyler Styer. Gespielt wird 10-Ball im Doppel-K.O., Race to 10. Die letzten 16 spielen dann ein Einfach-K.O., Race to 13. Für den Sieger sind immerhin stattliche 10.000 Dollar ausgerufen. Bei den Damen dürften u.a. Karen Corr und Kristina Tkach heiße Anwärterinnen auf den Turniersieg sein. Die Auslosung für das World Pool Masters 2019 in Gibraltar ist fertig und es sind eigentlich ausschließlich Kracher dabei. Originalbeitrag von Matchroom: The draw for the preliminary round of the World Pool Masters has been made with Eklent Kaci vs. Earl Strickland, Wu Jiaqing vs. Alex Pagulayan and an all-Spanish clash between David Aclaide and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz among the stand-out ties. The 24-player field includes eight players who qualified for the event by winning major 9-ball tournaments and these eight players go straight into the last 16. The remaining 16 invited players play in the preliminary round, with players joining the last 16 draw in order of their seeding. Players in the preliminary round were seeded by their current WPA World Ranking. „Killer“-Filler wins the Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2019

Joshua Filler (GER) just won his first Euro-Tour tournament, the Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2019, with an impressive 9:7 final victory over Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS). The final match was determined by high class pool billiards by both players. The pressure and the heat was on for the athletes. They took racks in turn and kept the match open for a long time. After 11 racks, Chinakhov missed an easy shot on the 6-ball when he could have gotten a 2-rack-advantage over Filler. But instead, the young German who just claimed his first World Champion title in 9-ball last year, levelled the match at 6:6. Then, he broke dry and gave the table back to Chinakhov. A safety battle occurred with Filler coming out as the winner. But now he showed some nerves and missed a makable 2-ball. However, the Russian could not capitalise from Filler’s mistake and allowed Filler to get to 7:6. The next rack was a break-and-run by Chinakhov, so the heat was really on at 7:7.
