Monica Webb takes the title in the women’s Euro-Tour Monica Webb (USA) just won the Dynamic Billard Austrian Open Women Euro-Tour event in beautiful St. Johann/Pg., Austria, with a convincing 7:3 victory over favored hometown hero Jasmin Ouschan (AUT). It has been Webb’s tournament from the very beginning. She played great throughout the whole event. Results like 7:4 over #2 ranked player Ana Mazhirina (RUS), 7:3 over #5 ranked Ina Kaplan (GER), 7:2 over multiple European and World Champion Oliwia Czuprynska (POL) and 7:3 against another multiple European and World Champion Jasmin Ouschan in the final demonstrated her domination in this event. Although being handicapped with a foot in plaster she performed better than ever in Europe. „I felt great in this event“, stated Webb after the match. „I have practiced a lot during the last months and I think it is paying off now“. Underdog Denis Grabe wins Dynamic Billard Austrian Open Denis Grabe from Estonia just won the Dynamic Billard Austrian Open 2014 with a clear 9:1 defeat over Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) in the final match. Ekonomopoulos had to deal with #1 ranked player in the semi-final, Nick van den Berg (NED). He played really strong and did not allow van den Berg to find his game even though it was van den Berg’s birthday today. To the contrary, the balls really rolled in Ekonomopoulos’ favor and the end result of 9:2 in favor of Ekonomopoulos showed how clear his victory was today. Denis Grabe had tougher work ahead. In the second semi-final, he was already trailing 7:8 to #2 ranked player Niels Feijen (NED) when the Dutch missed a shot. Souquet out after two rounds Probably the most famous casualty of day 1 of the Dynamic Billard Austrian open in Hotel Alpina, St. Johann, Austria, is BCA Hall of Famer Ralf Souquet (GER). He lost two straight matches against Maksim Dudanets (RUS) with 7:9 and then to completely unheralded Andreas Koukiadakis (GRE) also with 8:9 after being in the lead with 8:4. After having won the last Euro-Tour in Kyrenia, North Cyprus, this is a huge disappointment for the German superstar. Other notable results from today include Belgium’s Serge Das losing to Dudanets with 8:9 in his first round match. Then, he remained victorious over Michel Bartol from Croatia with the same result. According to the information on Das’ Facebook page, his opponent dogged some important shots during the 17th rack and allowed Das to stay in the tournament. Denis Grabe (EST) gewinnt Austria Open 2014 im Finale gegen Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) mit 9-1. Den 3. Platz belegen Nick van den Berg (NED) und Niels Feijen (NED). Am kommenden Donnerstag, den 22. Mai 2014 findet der nächste Euro-Tour Stop in Sankt Johann/Österreich statt. Im sehr schönen Alpina Wellness & Sporthotel treffen bis zum Finaltag am 24. Mai 2014 so ziemlich die besten Pool Billard Spieler Europas aufeinander, um den Champion der Austria Open 2014 zu ermitteln. Bereits im Vorjahr fanden die Austria Open an gleicher Spielstätte statt und den Titel 2013 sicherte sich der Niederländer Niels Feijen. Im Finale 2013 bezwang er Alexander Kazakis aus Griechenland deutlich mit 9-4. Das Gesamtpreisgeld dieser 9 Ball Veranstaltung beträgt 34.000 Euro und natürlich werden auch bei diesem Tour Stop wichtige Punkte für das europäischen Mosconi Cup Team verteilt. Souquet and Ouschan win the Dynamic Billard North Cyprus Open Ralf Souquet (GER) and Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) have won the titles at the Dynamic Billard North Cyprus Open Euro-Tour. In the men’s division, Ralf Souquet played at his best. He took down great names like Ivo Aarts (NED) 9:0, Imran Majid (GBR) 9:3, Mieszko Fortunski (POL) 9:3 and in the final match Karl Boyes (GBR) with 9:4. The final match was dominated by Souquet from start to finish. A bit scrappy in the beginning, Souquet turned out to have the far better break shot than Boyes. He pocketed almost every time a vll on his break and ran out 4 racks without even allowing Boyes into the table. The Brit however had to struggle with his break shot. Most of the time, he came up dry with no ball down or not enough balls crossing the kitchen line. This situation was taken advantage of by Souquet without any mercy. Ralf Souquet (GER) gewinnt North Cyprus Open 2014 im Finale gegen Karl Boyes (GBR) mit 9-4. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Chris Melling (GBR) und Mieszko Fortunski (POL). Die Europameisterschaft 2014 geht in die heiße Phase und die Vorbereitungen für das nächste Euro-Tour Highlight laufen auf Hochtouren. Direkt nach der EM starten am 10. April die North Cyprus Open 2014 und das Finale wird am Samstag, den 12. April ausgetragen. Mit knapp 160 Meldungen gibt es nach langer Zeit mal wieder einen Teilnehmerhöchststand zu vermelden. Natürlich ist dies der Europameisterschaft geschuldet. Die Teilnehmer der Dynamic European Championship bleiben natürlich zum Großteil in Kyrenia, um an diesem nächsten Euro-Tour Stop teilzunehmen. Dieses Turnier ist nicht nur ein weiteres Euro-Tour Event, es zählt auch zu den Turnieren das in diesem Jahr Punkte für das europäische Mosconi Cup Ranking bringt. Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) gewinnt North Cyprus Women Open 2014 im Finale gegen Kristina Tkach (RUS) mit 7-0. Den 3. Platz belegen Monica Webb (USA) und Ana Gradisnik (SLO). Nach der Dynamic Billard European Championship 2014 in Kyrenia, North Cyprus findet direkt im Anschluss vom 10. – 12. April 2014 die nächste Euro-Tour Veranstaltung der Damen statt. Bis auf wenige Ausnahmen werden alle europäischen Topspielerinnen an der North Cyprus Women Open teilnehmen. In der Gesamtwertung der Damen Euro-Tour führt derzeit die amtierende 14/1 Europameisterin Jasmin Ouschan aus Österreich, gefolgt von Ana Mazhirina aus Russland. An Platz 3 des Rankings liegt die deutsche Spitzenspielerin Ina Kaplan. Den letzten Euro-Tour Stop der Damen in Paredes/Portugal gewann Kristina Schagan, sie liegt derzeit auf Rang 20 der europäischen Bestenliste. Kristina Schagan (GER) gewinnt Women’s 8 Ball Open 2014 im Finale gegen Vania Franco (POR) mit 7-4. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) und Ana Mazhirina (RUS). Am nächsten Wochenende vom 15. – 16. März findet in Paredes/Portugal die Women’s 8 Ball Open 2014 statt. Dieses 8 Ball Turnier ist der nächste Euro-Tour Stop der Damen. Im letzten Jahr gewann die Women’s 8 Ball Open die Österreicherin Jasmin Ouschan im Finale gegen Ana Gradisnik (SLO) mit 7-3. Mittlerweile gibt es mehr als 60 Meldungen für die Veranstaltung und darunter sind viele der besten Damen aus ganz Europa. Nick van den Berg wins the first Euro-Tour stop in 2014, the Dynamic Billard Italian Open The final match between started with a dominant phase from van den Berg. He ran out the first two racks and the capitalized from a mistake from Skowerski, turning the scoreboard to 3:0 after only 13 minutes. Then van den Berg scratched on his own break and allowed Skowerski to open up his account with 3:1. The next racks were equally shared and after 8 racks the score was 5:3 for van den Berg with Skowerski’s break shot coming up. At that point in time, van den Berg seemed to lose his domination in the match a bit. Skowerski broke the 9-ball and came within one point to van den Berg. The tide seemed to turn in the match. Nick van den Berg (NED) gewinnt Italy Open 2014 im Finale gegen Karol Skowerski (POL) mit 9-5. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Niels Feijen (NED) und Mark Gray (GBR). Die Euro-Tour startet vom 06. – 08. Februar 2014 in Treviso/Italien in die neue Saison. Bei den letzten Euro-Tour Events hatte der Veranstalter ein wenig mit rückläufigen Teilnehmerzahlen zu kämpfen und die Attraktivität der Tour wurde infrage gestellt. Mittlerweile sind für die Italy Open 2014 mehr als 130 Teilnehmer gemeldet und vielleicht ist das ein Zeichen dafür, dass es eventuell nur eine kleine Durststrecke war. Titelverteidiger ist Konstantin Stepanov (RUS), er bezwang im letztjährigen Finale Dimitri Jungo aus der Schweiz mit 9-7. Gespielt wird 9 Ball auf 9 Gewinnspiele mit Wechselbreak und das Gesamtpreisgeld beträgt 34.000 Euro. Austragungsort ist wie so oft das BHR Hotel in Treviso.
