Euro Race for Spots Hotting Up 10th June, 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup WITH FOUR EVENTS now completed, the race to claim the three automatic berths on the 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup European side is well underway. This year, there are three separate ranking lists in operation – the first comprised of a five event Euro Tour series; the second a three event ‘World’ series and the last a combined ranking of the two. At the close of the qualification series in October, the No.1 ranked player on each of the three lists will be named as part of Team Europe as they look to defend their title at the Tower Circus, Blackpool from 1st to 4th December. There is some way to go but Mosconi veterans Nick van den Berg and Niels Feijen (Holland) hold two of the three tops spots while Mika Immonen and Thorsten Hohmann are joint leaders of the ‘World’ list. 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup – Team USA – Captain’s Report May/June 2014 In preparation for the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup XXI to be held December 1st through 4th in Blackpool, England, we assembled Team USA in San Diego, California for our very first team get-together. In our first team meeting we covered the tentative schedule for the year, and discussed what is expected of the team. Honor, integrity, professionalism, and dedication to training were discussed as the goals for the team. We introduced Lieutenant Commander (retired) Amir Pishdad, a legendary Navy SEAL, who was our host for the weekend. Amir is an extremely inspirational and motivational speaker, and he is expert in the principles of intense training, and the true meaning of honor, integrity, and teamwork. His assistance, inspiration, and motivation were such that by the end of the weekend, the team made him an honorary member of Team USA; and we hope to have him present to advise us during the Cup competition in Blackpool. 3rd March, 2014 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup Universe Announced as Official Clothing Supplier of Mosconi Cup XXI Matchroom Sport is delighted to announce Universe Clothing as the Official Clothing Supplier of the 2014 PartyPoker.com Mosconi Cup. The Georgia-based operation will be responsible for the design, manufacturing and retailing of all players’ shirts for 21st running of pool’s transatlantic team showdown. This will mark the first time in the event’s illustrious history that replica team shirts will be available to the fans to show which team they support. Taking place from Monday 1st to Thursday 4th December at the Tower Circus in Blackpool, the event features two five-man teams representing the USA and Europe competing in a series of singles and doubles matches. After the all-wildcard 20th anniversary Mosconi Cup last year, 2014 will see the selection procedure for Europe revert to a combination of three ranking spots and two wildcards. 4th December, 2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup It’s Europe in a landslide USA 2-11 Europe Strickland & Hatch 3-6 Appleton & Souquet Earl Strickland 4-6 Karl Boyes Hatch & Morris 4-6 Immonen & Feijen TEAM EUROPE completed their finest ever PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup win, as they beat the Americans 11-2, the second biggest winning margin in the 20 year history of the event. Needing three more points going into the third day, they reeled off the first three matches to hand out a humiliating defeat to the USA. It was Europe’s fourth win on the trot and their sixth in seven years. With a star-packed team, many felt that this was the Americans best chance in a while but after losing the first day 5-0, the writing was on the wall. America won two points on Tuesday but all in all it was a lame performance that will leave many questions. A win in the team game got things underway, before two doubles victories and singles wins for Mika Immonen and Darren Appleton piled on the misery for the Americans. The much-vaunted change in the break rules saw an inordinate number of dry breaks and it was the Europeans who played the better pool and made the least number of mistakes to build up a mammoth lead. Team Europe gewinnt Mosconi Cup 2013 gegen Team USA mit 11-2. MVP der Veranstaltung wurde völlig verdient Niels Feijen (NED). Vom 02. – 05. Dezember 2013 findet in Las Vegas/USA die 20. Auflage des legendären Mosconi Cups statt. Die diesjährige Jubiläumsausgabe der Matchroom Sport Topveranstaltung wird erneut alle Pool Billard Fans und Begeisterten mobilisieren. Dieser Nationenvergleich hat den gleichen Stellenwert wie z.B. im Golfsport der Ryder Cup. In diesem Jahr konnten sich die Spieler nicht anhand von Leistungen auf den Major Events qualifizieren. Der Veranstalter Matchroom Sport hat alle 10 Spieler selbst nominiert für den Mosconi Cup 2013. In den letzten 3 Jahren gewann Team Europa den Mosconi Cup ziemlich souverän, doch diesmal wird es für die Europäer um Team Captain Johan Ruijsink sicherlich ein wenig schwerer werden. Die Amerikaner machen in diesem Jahr einen sehr selbstbewussten Eindruck und scheinen fest entschlossen den Cup nach Amerika zurückzuholen.
