2016 US Open 8-Ball Championship underway at The Rio CueSports International, Henderson, NV (July 23, 2016) The winners’ side of the bracket is filled with heavy hitters after the first day of competition was complete at the 2016 US Open 8-Ball Championship at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Thorsten ‘The Hit Man’ Hohmann, Rodney ‘The Rocket’ Morris and the legendary Francisco Bustamante remain on the A-side of the bracket, along with Vilmos Foldes, Amar Kang, Jesse Bowman, Rory Hendrickson, Josh Roberts and Matt Edwards. The 63-player field was pared to 28 by the time the final rounds finished Saturday night. Some of those making early exits from the field included Mike Massey, Ernesto Dominguez, Sal Butera, Jason Klatt and Hunter Lombardo. Albin Ouschan (AUT) gewinnt 2016 WPA World 9 Ball Championship im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening (USA) mit 13-6. Den 3. Platz belegen Alex Pagulayan (CAN) und Hsuan Yu-Cheng (TPE). Am nächsten Montag, den 25. Juli 2016 starten in Doha/Katar die WPA 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaften. Dieser Titel ist nach wie vor der wichtigste im Welt Pool Billard und für jeden Spieler die größte Herausforderung. Nicht nur das extrem starke Teilnehmerfeld, sondern auch die besonderen Umstände tragen dazu bei. Die hohen Außentemperaturen und der stark klimatisierte Spielort, der Al Arabi Sports Club, sind für viele Spieler kaum zu beherrschen. Im letzten Jahr gewann Ko Pin-Yi aus Taiwan diesen Titel im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening aus den USA. Im Finale 2015 wurde erneut deutlich das leider nicht immer der bessere Spieler gewinnt. Shane Van Boening (USA) gewinnt US Open 8 Ball Championship 2016 im Finale gegen Rory Hendrickson (USA) mit 9-4. Den 3. Platz belegt Jesse Bowman (USA). In der Zeit vom 20. – 30. Juli 2016 findet in Las Vegas die 40. Ausgabe der BCAPL National Championships statt. Diese Veranstaltung ist gleichzusetzen mit einer nationalen Meisterschaft. Allerdings dürfen hier nur Amateure teilnehmen und keine Pros. Die BCAPL National Championships ist eines der größten Pool Billard Events in den USA, hier werden nahezu 1000 Spieler erwartet, die auf mehr als 300 Diamond Pool Tables an den Start gehen werden. Ein logistischer Aufwand, der seinesgleichen sucht. Während dieser Veranstaltung spielen die Pros die US Open 8 Ball & 10 Ball Championships 2016. 13th July – 2016 Mosconi Cup Rodney maintains lead as Oscar closes in WITH TWO more events having played out over the past weekend, veteran Rodney Morris still leads in the 28 event series as the chase for the three automatic spots on Team USA continues. With 12 events gone, there is everything to play for. With overseas players filling six of the top eight spots at the West Coast Challenge, it was Jason Williams who was the best placed American, finishing third with 28 points. Oscar Dominguez earned 18 points for his 7th place finish which was enough to maintain his second spot in the ranking and close the gap to just five points. Elsewhere, on the Mid-West 9 Ball Tour in Olathe, Kansas it was veteran Robb Saez who bagged the top spot and with it 35 points to break in to the top ten. 19th April – 2016 Mosconi Cup Rocket on top after Don Coates win AFTER EIGHT events on the Official Mosconi Cup Team USA Ranking list, it is Rodney Morris who leads the way following a win at the Don Coates Memorial. Having had a great start to the MC qualifying season, the ‘Rocket’ is looking to make a return to the side following his last appearance in 2013. A Mosconi Cup MVP back in 2003, Morris has made a total of nine appearances in the event with a 48% win record. Filling out the other two automatic spots are Mike Dechaine who in second place as he looks to make his fourth MC appearance. Hot on his heels is Oscar Dominguez, a winner of two events this season and just three points adrift. Am kommenden Freitag startet in Indiana/USA eines der aufregendsten Pool Billard Turniere des Jahres. Die 18. Ausgabe des Derby City Classic 2016 ist wie in den letzten Jahren auch eine sehr komplexe und fast schon unüberschaubare Veranstaltung. Das soll nicht negativ gemeint sein, ganz im Gegenteil. In der Zeit vom 22. – 30. Januar 2016 wird von den Teilnehmern alles gefordert. Es vergeht kaum ein Tag, an dem die Spieler nicht an einem Turnier teilnehmen können. Neben all diesen Events wird es wie immer sehr viele Money-Matches abseits des eigentlichen Turniergeschehens geben. Es wird neben der 9 Ball Veranstaltung noch 9 Ball Bank, One Pocket, Straight Pool und viele Mini-Turniere geben, um die Spieler bei Laune zu halten. Eines der Highlights beim Derby City Classic ist die 10 Ball BigFoot Challenge, die auf einem 10 Fuß Pool Billard Tisch der Firma Diamond ausgetragen wird. Mika Immonen (FIN) gewinnt Turning Stone Classic XXV 2016 im Finale gegen Eric Hjorleifson (CAN) mit 13-2. Den 3. Platz belegt Oscar Dominguez (USA). Das Turning Stone Classic feiert in diesem Januar sein 25. Jubiläum. Die 25. Ausgabe des Turning Stone Classic verspricht wie in den letzten Jahren Pool Billard der Extraklasse. Dieses 9 Ball Event gehört zu Mike Zuglan’s Joss Northeast 9 Ball Tour und ist eines der populärsten Turniere der USA. Hier stimmt zumeist alles, eine tolle Organisation, ein starkes Teilnehmerfeld und ein sehr gutes Preisgeld. Titelverteidiger des Turning Stone Classic ist Jayson Shaw aus Schottland. Jayson Shaw hat seinen Wohnsitz mittlerweile in die USA verlegt und er gewann die letzten drei Ausgaben dieses Turniers. Im August 2015 gewann er im Finale gegen Mike Dechaine aus den USA mit 13-10 –> Turning Stone Classic XXIV 2015. Auch bei dieser Ausgabe vom 07. – 10.
