23rd September – 2015 Dafabet World Cup of Pool USA tumbles out as Holland and Philippines march on Round 1 Scores Qatar 7-5 USA (6) Holland (3) 7-3 India Philippines (2) 7-4 Russia THERE was another big upset as day two of the Dafabet World Cup of Pool played out at the York Hall, London on Wednesday evening. This time it was the USA who crumbled, going down to Qatar who looked the part and definitely played it. In the other matches Holland had a comfortable win against India after getting off to a great start and the Philippines steamrollered Russia after losing the early exchanges. Taking place at the York Hall in London, the Dafabet World Cup of Pool features 32 two-man teams from around the globe competing for a $250,000 prize fund. 18 September – 2015 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup WITH A RELATIVELY poor showing for Europe’s stars at the WPA World 9 Ball Championship in Qatar, there has been minimal movement on the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup ranking list. The highest finisher was Poland’s Wojciech Szewczyk who reached the last eight to earn 15 points and give himself an outside shot at both the World and Combined list. Albin Ouschan (Austria) maintained his lead at the top of the World Ranking and a high finish at the US Open next month could see him make his Mosconi Cup debut in December. He leads Spain’s David Alcaide by five points with seasoned MC players Mika Immonen and Darren Appleton a further five points back. The Combined list is still topped by Niels Feijen who was out of the points in Doha but Ouschan is well placed, just four points behind with two events to be played. Ko Pin-Yi (TW) gewinnt 2015 WPA World 9 Ball Championship im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening (USA) mit 13-11. Den 3. Platz belegen Ko Ping-Chung (TW) und Wu Jiaqing (CHN). Ab dem 07. September 2015 wird in Doha/Katar die diesjährige 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft ausgetragen. Die 2015 WPA World 9 Ball Championship läuft bis zum 18. September 2015 und es werden so ziemlich alle Stars der Pool Billard Welt in Doha anzutreffen sein. Die 9 Ball WM gehört jedes zu den Events mit der größten Strahlkraft und dem größten Prestige. Und kaum ein anderes Turnier ist wohl so schwer zu gewinnen wie die Titelkämpfe im Al Arabi Sports Club. Extreme Temperaturen draußen, Klimaanlagen die den Spielort ziemlich runterkühlen und die besten Spieler der Welt. Joshua Filler (GER) gewinnt LONGONI Pinneberg Open 2015 im Finale gegen Julian Kortüm (GER) mit 9-3. Den 3. Platz belegen Ivo Aarts (NED) und Francisco Bustamante (PHI). Bei den Damen gewinnt Pia Blaeser im Finale gegen Melanie Süßenguth mit 5-4. Den 3. Platz belegen Monja Kielhorn und Kristina Schagan. Ein weiteres Pool Billard Highlight des Jahres 2015 startet am kommenden Donnerstag. Vom 27. – 30. August 2015 werden bei den LONGONI Pinneberg Open 2015 viele internationale und nationale Topstars der Szene an den Start gehen. Bei dieser Veranstaltung kann man ohne Weiteres von einem Pool Billard Event sprechen. Nicht nur das 10 Ball Mainevent mit 256 Teilnehmern wird Fans und Zuschauer begeistern. Es gibt etliche Sideevents, eine Players-Night sowie diverse Showkämpfe. Natürlich wird auch in diesem Jahr erneut ein sehr gut besetztes Damenfeld bei den Pinneberg Open ausgetragen. 20th August – 2015 World Cup of Pool World-class line up set for York Hall showdown With the annual World Cup of Pool coming back to London this September, Matchroom Sport can announce the 32 teams and players set to contest the annual $250,000 pairs tournament. Taking place at pool’s fiercest venue, the York Hall in Bethnal Green, the World Cup runs from Tuesday 22nd to 27th September. Defending champions are England A with Karl Boyes and Darren Appleton looking to become the first pair to successfully defend their crown. Competition will be tough though, with a host of previous winners and finalists taking part. Germany will be represented by 2011 champions Thorsten Hohmann and Ralf Souquet and 2012 winners Mika Immonen and Petri Makkonen (Finland) will be once again taking part. August 2015 werden bei den 2015 LONGONI Benelux Open viele Pool Billard Stars aus weiten teilen Europas an den Start gehen. 15th August – 2015 PartyPoker World Pool Masters Round One Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) 3-8 Ralf Souquet (GER) Johnny Archer (USA) 8-2 James Georgiadis (AUS) Quarter-Finals Niels Feijen (HOL) 6-8 Liu Haitao (CHN) Liu Haitao, the 33 year-old from Neimenggu, China became the first man through to the semi-finals of the PartyPoker World Pool Masters as he overcame Holland’s Niels Feijen in a hard fought match at the Victoria Warehouse. Liu, the sharp-shooting World No.10, had a great start, aided by two misses by Feijen and it allowed him to take a 6-2 lead. Feijen though regrouped and won the next three to get within one rack of Liu. Momentum was stalled though when he broke dry in rack 12 and Liu ran out to move to 7-5. Feijen won rack 13 to stay alive but a push out to a jump with no shot on the 1 ball let Liu regain momentum with a quality jump shot. In front of an enthusiastic crowd there were wins for defending champ Shane Van Boening, 2013 victor Niels Feijen and China’s Liu Haitao in the final match of the session. Liu had faced England’s Karl Boyes who had enjoyed some rowdy support in the arena. It was an absorbing encounter with the most dramatic of endings as Boyes came back from 7-5 down to level the match at 7-7. The final rack came down to the last two balls as Boyes looked to complete an exhilarating run out for the win.
