26th April – 2017 World Cup of Pool England Teams Confirmed for York Hall World Showdown With the world’s greatest shooters set to gather at the iconic East London venue in June, the two England teams have been confirmed for the forthcoming World Cup of Pool at York Hall, London, June 13-18. Darren Appleton and Mark Gray, both stars of Team Europe’s record-breaking 11-3 victory over USA at December’s Mosconi Cup, will be reunited in the England A team. The host nation is entitled to two sides in the tournament and Daryl Peach will be joined by Imran Majid in England B. Peach was a finalist alongside Gray at the last World Cup and last partnered Majid in 2007. #02/08/2016 World Cup of Pool Qualifier kicks off in Tirana today Following the Dynamic Billard European Championships Youth, the qualifying tournament for this year’s World Cup of Pool will kick off today in Expo Center, Tirana, Albania. 26 teams from 16 nations have announced for a chance in this tournament. Only the winning team gets a spot in the main field of the World Cup of Pool. Players from Croatia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Turkey, North Cyprus, Slovakia, Portugal, Belarus, Luxembourg, Denmark, Latvia, Albania, Scotland, Bosnia&Hercegovina, Switzerland and Hungary are among the contestants. The tournament is scotch doubles which means that the two player which make a team take their shots in turns. 9-ball, race to eight, alternate break, double elimination is the format. The company, based in Jiujiang City in south western China, have made large in roads into the billiard world since setting up 26 years ago. Originally, they were a slate producing country, something that they still specialize in. 27th September – 2015 Dafabet World Cup of Pool Chinese Taipei take World Cup in thriller The Final Chinese Taipei 10-8 England B CHINESE TAIPEI came from 5-1 and 7-4 down to win their first Dafabet World Cup of Pool, beating England B 10-8 in the final. It looked like a case of so near yet so far yet again for Chinese Taipei, four-times semi-finalists in the nine-year history of the scotch doubles event and represented this year by Ko Pin Yi and Chang Yu Lung. But a run of five consecutive racks saw them overcome their 7-4 deficit to arrive on the hill. They lost control of the table at that stage and the England pair of Mark Gray and Daryl Peach clawed one back before a missed 3-ball proved costly for the home team. For Ko it completed a dream fortnight after he won the WPA World 9-ball Championship in Doha last week.
