24th August – 2015 World Cup of Pool Champs open defence with Ashes showdown Defending Champions England A will be getting their defence of the 2015 World Cup of Pool underway with a showdown against Ashes rivals Australia on the opening evening of the tournament. Taking place on the evening of Tuesday 22nd September at the famous York Hall in Bethnal Green, England’s Karl Boyes and Darren Appleton will be looking continue Australia’s dismal winless run in the competition. Other marquee matches in the opening round of the $250,000 pairs tournament include last year’s runners-up Holland against the well-supported Indian team and betting favourites the Philippines against the dangerous Russian duo. 20th August – 2015 World Cup of Pool World-class line up set for York Hall showdown With the annual World Cup of Pool coming back to London this September, Matchroom Sport can announce the 32 teams and players set to contest the annual $250,000 pairs tournament. Taking place at pool’s fiercest venue, the York Hall in Bethnal Green, the World Cup runs from Tuesday 22nd to 27th September. Defending champions are England A with Karl Boyes and Darren Appleton looking to become the first pair to successfully defend their crown. Competition will be tough though, with a host of previous winners and finalists taking part. geschrieben von Marc Glatz Ein kleiner Bericht von der Qualifikation zum World Cup of Pool: Auf Grund einer Hochzeit am Freitag Abend, wo wir unter anderem mit Jean Claude Junker eingeladen waren, konnten wir (mein Sohn Diego & ich) unser Abenteuer erst am Samstag morgen starten. D.h. Freitags 24.45 Bettruhe. Samstags 5.00 klingelt der Wecker. 6.10 Abfahrt Luxembourg Gare. 8.35 Ankunft Koblenz, umsteigen in den finalen Zug Richtung St. Johann im Pongau. Ankunft 17.10 in Österreich. Mein guter Freund Steve Leisen und der beste Fahrer der Welt Gaga erwarten uns schon mit offenen Armen 😉 17.25 Ankunft im Hotelzimmer. Nur schnell den Koffer im Zimmer abstellen und mit dem Queue Koffer weiter Richtung Spielsaal. Unterwegs noch ein paar Billard Kollegen begrüssen und ab in die Halle. Habe Einspielzeit von 18.00-18.30 bekommen. Nach 15 min merke ich schon das es keinen Wert hat, nach 11 Stunden Zugfahrt und 4 Stunden schlaf, sich weiter einzuspielen. Macht nur den Kopf kaputt auf den engen Löchern 😉 Also ab zum Spa mit meinem kleinem Masseur Diego, ein wenig schwimmen […]
