And if fans think the play so far has been more than stellar, wait until Thursday when action commences for the final sprint towards pool’s most prestigious prize. From here the pressure and drama is guaranteed to be ramped up, as the remaining players can suddenly see the golden prize, pool’s ultimate and most prestigious crown. The round of 16 and the quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday. The semi-finals and final will be held on Thursday. And what a race to the mountain top of pool it will be. By Ted Lerner – WPA Press Officer Photos Courtesy of Bo Bader (Doha, Qatar)–Misery and joy danced a sultry tango today at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha on Day 2 of the 2016 WPA World 9-ball Championship, as 32 players headed for the exits, while another 32 players booked their place in the final 64 knockout stage. As on Day 1, all 128 players saw action, but unlike the opening rounds, much more was at stake. All 32 losers-side matches in the group stage were do-or-die. All 32 winners-side matches offered the victor a massive sigh of relief, and a day off as they await the start of the single elimination knockout stage which begins on Tuesday. By Ted Lerner – WPA Press Officer (Doha, Qatar)–The burning hot desert kingdom of Qatar is about to be set ablaze in sporting terms as the 25th edition of the WPA World 9-ball Championship breaks off July 30 at the Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha. This will be the seventh straight year that the tiny Gulf country, through the government sanctioned Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation(QBSF), has put its full backing behind the sport of pool’s biggest and most important event. Albin Ouschan (AUT) gewinnt 2016 WPA World 9 Ball Championship im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening (USA) mit 13-6. Den 3. Platz belegen Alex Pagulayan (CAN) und Hsuan Yu-Cheng (TPE). Am nächsten Montag, den 25. Juli 2016 starten in Doha/Katar die WPA 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaften. Dieser Titel ist nach wie vor der wichtigste im Welt Pool Billard und für jeden Spieler die größte Herausforderung. Nicht nur das extrem starke Teilnehmerfeld, sondern auch die besonderen Umstände tragen dazu bei. Die hohen Außentemperaturen und der stark klimatisierte Spielort, der Al Arabi Sports Club, sind für viele Spieler kaum zu beherrschen. Im letzten Jahr gewann Ko Pin-Yi aus Taiwan diesen Titel im Finale gegen Shane Van Boening aus den USA. Im Finale 2015 wurde erneut deutlich das leider nicht immer der bessere Spieler gewinnt. Shane Van Boening spielte ein überragendes Turnier und dominierte selbst die stärksten Konkurrenten nach Belieben. (English Version, click here) In den letzten Jahren gab es weltweit eine Menge neuer Projekte in der Pool Billard Szene. Es waren tolle Ideen dabei. Viele mussten leider einsehen und erkennen das es mehr als schwierig ist Ihr Produkt bzw. Ihre Idee an den Mann und die Frau zu bringen und erfolgreich umzusetzen. Einige scheiterten an einer zu großen Erwartungshaltung und andere einfach nur, weil es schlicht und einfach zu kompliziert und wenig transparent war. Warum fängt dieser Blog genau mit diesen Hinweisen an und geht nicht direkt total euphorisch in die vollen? Weil wir realistisch sind und die Schwierigkeiten innerhalb der weltweiten Pool Billard Szene sehr gut kennen. Welche gescheiterten Projekte meinen wir im Einzelnen, nun diese Auflistung möchten wir an dieser Stelle den Lesern und ehemaligen Beteiligten der Projekte ersparen, natürlich auch, damit wir nicht als ständig kritisierende „Böse Buben“ dastehen oder uns mit Anwälten herumärgern müssen 😉 Beim Global8ball.com Projekt ist der Ansatz ein anderer und die eigentliche Motivation ist die Verbesserung der weltweiten Pool Billard Gesamtsituation. Junior World Championships down to finals

17/11/2015 Junior World Championships down to finals Team Europe has come up with some quite convincing and successful results. In the girls division, Kristina Tkach (RUS) reached the quarter-finals. There she had to give in to strong playing Jiang Teng (CHN) with 5:9. Tkach committed some unnecessary mistakes and consequently lost the match. In the U17 division, Daniel Maciol (POL) managed to get revenge from last year’s defeat against defending World Champion Kong de Jing (CHN). Having lost in the same-finals last year, he dethroned Kong this year with a convincing 8:2 victory and proceeded into the final match against Zhen Xiao Huai (CHN) who ousted Kamil Szaszor (POL) by a whisker with 8:7. However, Szaszor achieved a Bonze Medal in the event. In the U19 division, Europe has another shot at a title. Maksim Dudanets (RUS) booked his seat in the final match against Long Ze Huang (CHN) with a 11:7 result over Lo Ho Sum (HKG). 14/11/2015 The World Championships for Under 19, Under 17 and Girls players are currently on in Shanghai, China. The venue is the Huimin Middle School. A total of 96 players representing 24 nations will be competing for the coveted title of World Champion. Each category is filled with 32 players and divided into four groups. The Under 19s will play race to 9 until the quarter-finals, then switch to race to 11 racks. The Under 17s and girls will race to 7 until the quarter-finals, then switch to 8 (Under 17s) respectively 9 (girls). Matches with European participation in the first rounds. 48th All Japan Championship 2015

Johann Chua (PHI) gewinnt 48th All Japan Championship 2015 im Finale gegen Ronnie Alcano (PHI) mit 11-7. Den 3. Platz belegen Shane Van Boening (USA) und Han Hao-Xiang (CHN). Bei den Damen gewinnt Ga Young Kim (KOR) im Finale gegen Chihiro Kawahara (JAP) mit 9-2. Den 3. Platz belegen Maki Kimura (JAP) und Makiko Takagi (JAP). In der nächsten Woche findet vom 09. – 15. November 2015 in Amagasaki City/Japan die 48. Ausgabe der All Japan Championship statt. Dieses Turnier hat eine sehr lange Tradition und zählt für viele Pool Billard Profis zu den Pflichtterminen eines jeden Jahres. In der sehr schönen Archaic Hall in Amagasaki City werden sowohl die Herren als auch die Damen, um den sehr prestigeträchtigen Titel kämpfen. Bei den Herren gewann im Vorjahr Raymond Faraon von den Philippinen dieses WPA World Ranking Event im Finale gegen Naoyuki Oi aus Japan mit 11-8 –> 47th All Japan Championship 2014. Liu Shasha (CHN) gewinnt 2015 WPA Women’s World 9 Ball Championship im Finale gegen Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) mit 9-4. Den 3. Platz belegen Chou Chie-Yu (TPE) und Chihiro Kawahara (JAP). Ab morgen findet in Guilin/China die Pool Billard 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft der Damen statt. Die 2015 WPA Women’s World 9 Ball Championship geht bis zum nächsten Sonntag, den 08. November 2015 und diese Weltmeisterschaft gehört zu den Top Pool Billard Veranstaltungen des gesamten Jahres. Leider ist es auch in diesem Jahr erneut kaum möglich, trotz intensiver Bemühungen, an Informationen zu kommen. Wie so oft machen unsere chinesischen Freunde auch aus einem Pool Billard Turnier ein Staatsgeheimnis 😉 wir werden das in Zukunft auch gerne so akzeptieren, aber deshalb auch nicht mehr bereit sein alle Fakten, Links, Informationen etc. in mühsamer Kleinarbeit zusammenzutragen.
