15th May – 2017 World Cup of Pool Schedule announced for ‘best World Cup ever’. WITH JUST under one month to go before the 2017 World Cup of Pool gets underway at the York Hall, East London, the schedule of matches can be announced. Taking place from June 13-18, the World Cup of Pool features some of the best players in the world as 32 two-man teams from around the world battle it out for the $60,000 top prize. There are six matches per day, with three in the afternoon session and three in the evening and all first and second round matches are a race to eight racks. 5th May – 2017 World Cup of Pool World Cup of Pool Welcomes Global Superstars to London Following yesterday’s announcement of the European contingent for the 2017 World Cup of Pool, the rest of the field can now be revealed. With ten teams from Asia and six from around the rest of the world, some of the biggest names in the game will be coming to the York Hall in London to contest the $250,000 prize fund. They include defending champions, Ko Pin Yi and Chang Yu Lung of Chinese Taipei, as well as former World Pool Champion Wu Jiaqing who shocked the pool world winning as a 16 year-old in 2005. 4th May – 2017 World Cup of Pool Team Scotland: World Cup Opponents Will Be Running Scared With the World Cup of Pool set for a return to the storied York Hall, London this June 13-18 the Scottish pair of Jayson Shaw and Pat Holtz have promised to leave anyone who stands in their way of the trophy looking like ‘frozen rabbits in the headlights’. Scotland return to the event for first time since 2013, when Shaw & Holtz suffered a first-round defeat to eventual finalists Holland. However, since then Shaw has gone on to claim a number of major titles in the sport including the Kuwait Open, Turning Stone Classic and the Challenge of Champions among many others. 26th April – 2017 World Cup of Pool England Teams Confirmed for York Hall World Showdown With the world’s greatest shooters set to gather at the iconic East London venue in June, the two England teams have been confirmed for the forthcoming World Cup of Pool at York Hall, London, June 13-18. Darren Appleton and Mark Gray, both stars of Team Europe’s record-breaking 11-3 victory over USA at December’s Mosconi Cup, will be reunited in the England A team. The host nation is entitled to two sides in the tournament and Daryl Peach will be joined by Imran Majid in England B. 01/04/2017 Van den Berg and Ouschan win the Portuguese Dynamic Open The winners of the Portuguese Dynamic Billard Open are Nick van den Berg (NED) and Jasmin Ouschan (AUT). Nick van den Berg had a huge mountain to climb today. He had really big obstacles in the way on his quest for the glory. Before he met David Alcaide (ESP) in the final match, he had to overcome Vitaly Patsura (UKR) in a heartbreaker with 9:8, then Tomasz Kaplan (POL) 9:6 and in the semi-final match Mark Gray (GBR) with 9:3. Van den Berg played extremely well and solid and this also continued in the final match. Alcaide could not get into the match and missed a few easy shots in the early stage of the match. That brought van den Berg in advance. Alcaide had started a few attempts for a comeback and it looked like he would be able to make the match closer again. However, whenever Alcaide got closer, he was unlucky or fell out of position or the cue ball scratched. […]
