21st September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 Final four set for Sunday show down Quarter Finals Philippines 9-1 Hungary Chinese Taipei 9-3 England A TEAM PHILIPPINES made up of Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza ended the 888.com World Cup of Pool journey of Hungary as they hammered them 9-1 to advance to Sunday’s semi-finals where they will face Chinese Taipei who beat England. With victories over Croatia, Singapore and now Hungary, there were probably tougher routes to the final day of the event but Orcollo and Corteza barely put a foot wrong as they broke well, potted well and on the rare occasions that their opponents got to the table, it was to extricate themselves from a snooker. 20th September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 Big guns make their move Round 2 Hungary 7-4 Russia Philippines 7-3 Singapore Chinese Taipei 7-1 Greece UNFANCIED QUALIFIERS Hungary continued where they left off against China on Wednesday as they once again made light work of more exalted opposition as they put paid to Russian hopes at the 888.com World Cup of Pool by a 7-4 score line. There were also wins at the York Hall for Chinese Taipei and Philippines as the big guns made their move into the quarter-finals. Balazs Mikos and Gabor Solymosi looked to be enjoying every minute of it and played in the sort of relaxed manner that can count for a lot in a high pressure event like the World Cup. 17th September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 England B, Holland and Philippines through Holland 7-2 Scotland England B 7-4 Portugal Philippines 7-4 Croatia THERE were wins for three of the fancied teams at the 888.com World Cup of Pool as England B, Holland and the Philippines all made their way into the second round as play continued at the York Hall in London. The Philippines pair of Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza closed out the evening beating Croatia – Karlo Dalmatin and Ivica Putnik – 7-4. The Croatians were in with a chance as they stayed with their opponents in the early stages, but a succession of errors saw the team spirit drain away. With a strong Filipino contingent in the crowd, including the Ambassador, the duo from Manila completed the win. 3rd September 2013 World Cup of Pool Philippines up for the job WITH THE 2013 World Cup of Pool set to take place in London from 17-22 September, it’s no surprise that leading UK bookmaking firm William Hill have installed the super-talented Filipino pairing of Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza as joint favourites at 8/1 along with the USA. The deadly duo from Manila, currently world ranked #2 and #3 respectively, are certainly one of the in-form pairs competing for the $60,000 top prize when 32 two-player teams from all over the world convene at the York Hall for the six day event. Although the Philippines have won this event on two occasions in its seven year history, both times it was the pairing of Pinoy pool legends Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante who claimed the glory. „Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt nach 2003 seinen zweiten 9 Ball WM Titel im Finale gegen Antonio Gabica (PHI) mit 13-7. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Carlo Biado (PHI) und Karl Boyes (GBR)!“ Seit heute laufen in Doha/Qatar die Qualifikationsrunden (Stage 1) zum 128er Hauptfeld der diesjährigen 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft. Die World 9 Ball Championship 2013 wird wie im letzten Jahr im Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha stattfinden. Bereits in dieser Qualifikationsrunde sind einige sehr starke Spieler vertreten. Es wird auf 7 Gewinnspiele mit Wechselbreak gespielt, um sich für die Hauptrunde (Stage 2) zu qualifizieren. Die Weltmeisterschaft geht somit vom 02. – 13. September 2013. Am 06. September startet dann das Hauptfeld in 16 Gruppen zu je 8 Spielern. In der Gruppenphase, die auf 9 Gewinnspiele gespielt wird, wird im Doppel-KO System bis zu den Letzten 4 gespielt. Diese 4 Spieler jeder Gruppe ziehen dann in die Endrunde der letzten 64 ein.
