But tonight in the quarterfinals of the World Pool Team Championship at the Tongzhou Luhe High School in sultry Beijing, the two squads put on a memorable show that was like a raucous New Year’s Eve fireworks display. Team China 2 (Liu Haitao, Dang Jinhu, Wang Can, Fu Xiaofang, Liu Shasha) gewinnt 2014 World Pool Team Championship im Finale gegen Team Philippines (Dennis Orcollo, Lee Vann Corteza, Carlo Biado, Rubilen Amit) mit 4-2. Den 3. Platz belegen China 1 und Japan. Deutschland (Ralf Souquet, Thorsten Hohmann, Ina Kaplan, Sebastian Staab) landet auf einem sehr guten 5. Platz. Vom 28. Juli – 02. August 2014 findet in Beijing/China die 2014 World Pool Team Championship statt. Diese Team Weltmeisterschaft ist nicht zu verwechseln mit dem jährlich stattfindenden World Cup of Pool vom Veranstalter Matchroom Sport. In Beijing treffen insgesamt 25 Teams aus 24 Nationen aufeinander. China stellt als Gastgeber zwei Mannschaften. Auch dieses Jahr ist die Informationsbeschaffung äußerst schwierig und zäh. Es gibt so gut wie keine brauchbaren Informationen in für uns verständlicher Sprache. Das meiste wird leider nur in Mandarin (Chinesisch) angeboten. That is, the players who lost their first match in the group stage, and would get one more chance in this double elimination format to get back on track for the knockout rounds, or face the ignominy of complete and utter failure on pool’s biggest stage. Going two losses and out in the World 9-ball Championship is about as bad as it gets for a professional pool player. Platz belegen Elmer D. Haya (PHI) und China Open 2014 Champion Chang Yu-Lung (TPE). Ab dem 16. Juni 2014 findet in Doha/Katar die 2014 WPA World 9 Ball Championship statt. Die 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft der Herren gilt zusammen mit den China Open als eines der interessantesten und spannendsten Pool Billard Events im ganzen Jahr. Bis zum 27. Juni werden im Al Saad Sports Club in Doha die besten Pool Spieler aus der ganzen Welt um den wohl begehrtesten Titel der Szene kämpfen. Ko Pin-Yi (TW) gewinnt 46th All Japan Championship 2013 im Finale gegen Chang Jung-Lin (TW) mit 11-10. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Thorsten Hohmann (GER) und Johann Gonzales Chua (PHI). Bei den Damen gewinnt Akimi Kajitani (JAP) im Finale gegen Chihiro Kawahara (JAP) mit 9-7. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Tsai Pei Chen (TW) und Chou Chieh Yu (TW). Morgen beginnt in Amagasaki City, Hyogo/Japan die 46. Ausgabe der All Japan Championship 2013. Bei diesem recht hoch dotierten Turnier in Japan ist es jedes Jahr aufs Neue sehr schwer an Informationen zu kommen. Scheinbar legt man in Japan keinerlei Wert darauf das die Pool Billard Seiten dieser Welt mit Informationen versorgt werden. Leider wird auch auf Emails in keinster Weise geantwortet. Vieles bleibt im verborgenen und muss mühsam im Internet zusammengesucht werden. Die 46. Shane Van Boening (USA) gewinnt US Open 9 Ball Championships 2013 im Finale gegen Lee Vann Corteza (PHI) mit 13-10. Den 3. Platz belegt Jayson Shaw (SCO)! Die 38. Ausgabe der US Open 9 Ball Championships findet vom 13. – 19. Oktober 2013 im Marriott Hotel in Chesapeake statt. Stand heute, den 12. Oktober sind mehr als 160 Teilnehmer gemeldet. Dieses sehr traditionsreiche Pool Billard 9 Ball Turnier ist dass einzige weltweit das seit mehr als 30 Jahren ohne Unterbrechung stattfindet. Es gilt als eines der am schwersten zu gewinnenden Turniere überhaupt und hat den Stellenwert einer Weltmeisterschaft. Der erste Sieger der US Open 9 Ball 1976 war Mike Sigel (USA). Der erste Europäer, der dieses Turnier gewann ist der Deutsche Ralf Souquet. Er ist damit in der Geschichte dieses Turniers einer von lediglich drei Europäern, die die US Open 9 Ball gewinnen konnten. Die gesamte Siegerliste gibt es weiter unter. 22nd September, 888.com World Cup of Pool 2013 Philippines edge the Dutch in World Cup thriller The Finals Philippines 10-8 Holland TEAM PHILIPPINES made up of Lee Vann Corteza and Dennis Orcollo became 888.com World Cup of Pool champions as they beat Holland in a thrilling conclusion after an action-packed final that illustrated the sheer excitement of top level pool. The match ebbed and flowed and reached a climactic final stage that saw both teams buckle before the Filipinos redeemed themselves sinking the 8 and 9 for the title and $60,000 top prize. It was the third win for the Philippines in the eight year history of the event, following wins for Efren Reyes and Francisco Bustamante in 2006 and 2009. This year they enjoyed wins over Croatia, Singapore, Hungary and Chinese Taipei en route to the final but the best was to come in the championship match.
