Mark Gray (GBR) gewinnt Dutch Open 2014 im Finale gegen Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) mit 9-6. Den 3. Platz belegen Mario He (AUT) und Alexander Kazakis (GRE). In der Zeit vom 01. – 04. Oktober 2014 finden in Leende bei Eindhoven die Dutch Open 2014 statt. Einen Tag früher als gewohnt beginnt dieser Euro-Tour Stop bereits an einem Mittwoch. Es stehen im Hotel Golden Tulip Jagershorst lediglich elf Pool Billard Tische zur Verfügung, das zwingt die EPBF (European Pocket Billiard Federation) dazu einen Tag früher mit den ersten Runden zu beginnen. Dieser Euro-Tour Stop hat bereits jetzt mehr als 150 Teilnehmer und den größten Anteil mit knapp 30 Spielern stellen natürlich die Niederländer um 9 Ball Weltmeister Niels Feijen und dem führenden im Euro-Tour Ranking Nick van den Berg. 28 September The Final England A 10-9 Holland ENGLAND are the 2014 Betway World Cup of Pool champions after they broke Dutch hearts in a thrilling final rack shoot out where both sides had chances to take one of cue sport’s most prestigious titles. It was England’s first win in the storied history of the event and gives the two players a $60,000 pay day. Showing the bulldog spirit Karl Boyes and Darren Appleton came from 3-6 down and then 7-9 behind to force a final rack decider at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth in front of a sell-out crowd. The momentum ebbed and flowed as the English duo coasted into a 7-2 lead as the American pairing of Earl Strickland and Shane Van Boening looked patchy as they struggled to find a rhythm. 2014 Betway World Cup of Pool – Dutch, US & England A go through 24 September Holland 7 – 3 Sweden USA 7 – 2 Croatia England A 7 – 6 Spain THREE of the big guns of the sport enjoyed victories at the Betway World Cup of Pool as the first round continued at the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth. Holland, USA and England A all had wins and will take their place in the second round. Home team England A – Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes – had a huge scare as they nearly succumbed to Spain, scraping through in the deciding rack of the match. Spain had taken a 5-3 lead in front of a lively crowd but the English levelled it at 5-5. Francisco Diaz for Spain, though, played a daring 4/9 combination which put the Spaniards on the hill. Bereits im letzten Jahr mussten sich Niels Feijen und Nick van den Berg im Finale geschlagen geben. Den 3. Platz belegen die Teams aus Finnland (Mika Immonen/Petri Makkonen) und Team Österreich (Albin Ouschan/Mario He). Eines der Pool Billard Top-Events steht ab nächster Woche auf dem Programm im Turnierkalender. Karl Boyes (GBR) gewinnt 2014 PREDATOR French Open im Finale gegen Vincent Facquet (FRA) mit 9-6. Den 3. Platz belegt Nick van den Berg (NED). In Paris findet am kommenden Wochenende vom 12. – 14. September 2014 die 1. Auflage der PREDATOR French Open statt. Dieses 9 Ball Turnier wird bereits seit mehreren Monaten akribisch vorbereitet und die französische Hauptstadt ist natürlich nicht nur für Pool Billard Spieler und Fans ein Highlight und immer eine Reise wert. Mittlerweile ist das 128 Spieler große Hauptfeld komplett ausgebucht und jede weitere Anmeldung kommt vorerst auf eine Warteliste. Gespielt wird in 6 Qualifikationsgruppen die bereits am Freitagmittag, um 13 Uhr starten und die ersten jeder Gruppe ziehen dann in die 64er Finalrunde am Sonntag ein. Stargast Johnny Archer (USA) verliert im Achtelfinale gegen Jörn Kaplan (GER) mit 6-7 und belegt den 9. Platz. Beste Dame bei den Hangelar Open 2014 wurde Ina Kaplan (GER). Am kommenden Wochenende vom 29. – 31. August 2014 findet, wie in den letzten Jahren gewohnt, eines der spektakulärsten Pool Billard Events in Deutschland statt. We are talking about Jasmin and Albin Ouschan from Austria. They both had a walk-over in the first round. Then, in the first winner’s round, Jasmin defeated Andrey Seroshtan (RUS) 9:5 while Albin overcame Michael Lichodziejewski (POL) 9:7. This brought the two together in winner’s round two. They started out quite equally. Then, Jasmin committed two mistakes which was enough for her brother to snatch the needed points off her, winning the match with 9:4. „When we saw we had to play each other, we had to laugh“, stated Albin after the match. „Jasmin and I have played each other in competition six or seven years ago for the last time“.
