Round 1 England A 7-0 Indonesia Round 2 Finland 7-6 Korea England B 7-0 Germany THERE WAS double joy for the two English teams at the 888.com World Cup of Pool as first England A routed Indonesia 7-0 to reach the second round, and then the B team smashed Germany by a similar score line to reach the quarter-finals. Both teams looked in outstanding shape and with them both being in different halves of the draw the possibilities of an all-England final on Sunday night are not out of the question. England A, comprised of former World Champions Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes, looked very much the part as they completed the first round matches with a thumping 7-0 win over Indonesia at the York Hall to set up a second round game against Italy. 17th September, 2013 888.com World Cup of Pool First session completes with wins for three favourites Finland 7-2 Austria Korea 7-2 Estonia Germany 7-4 Malta Defending champions Finland – Mika Immonen and Petri Makkonen – are through to the second round of the 888.com World Cup of Pool following a comfortable 7-2 win over Austria as the six-day tournament got underway at the York Hall in East London. They won five racks in a row from 2-1 down to seal victory, after Austria, represented by Jasmine and Albin Ouschan, looked set to go 3-1 ahead. Jasmine, though, miscued pocketing the brown 7 and lost position. Trying to catch up left her with a tough cut on the 9 ball which she left in the jaws of the corner pocket. Saturday in blazing hot Doha, Qatar was, except for one match right at the end, not one of those days. 96 players out of the 128 in the field vying for 9-ball supremacy saw action today inside the icy cold Al Arabi Sports Club, and by and large the story line for the eight hours of play hardly veered from a predictable script. 4th September – 2013 PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup Souquet named as first European player RALF SOUQUET will break yet another record this December when he dons the blue European shirt to do battle in the 20th annual PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. „Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt nach 2003 seinen zweiten 9 Ball WM Titel im Finale gegen Antonio Gabica (PHI) mit 13-7. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Carlo Biado (PHI) und Karl Boyes (GBR)!“ Seit heute laufen in Doha/Qatar die Qualifikationsrunden (Stage 1) zum 128er Hauptfeld der diesjährigen 9 Ball Weltmeisterschaft. Die World 9 Ball Championship 2013 wird wie im letzten Jahr im Al Arabi Sports Club in Doha stattfinden. Bereits in dieser Qualifikationsrunde sind einige sehr starke Spieler vertreten. Es wird auf 7 Gewinnspiele mit Wechselbreak gespielt, um sich für die Hauptrunde (Stage 2) zu qualifizieren. Die Weltmeisterschaft geht somit vom 02. – 13. September 2013. Am 06. September startet dann das Hauptfeld in 16 Gruppen zu je 8 Spielern. In der Gruppenphase, die auf 9 Gewinnspiele gespielt wird, wird im Doppel-KO System bis zu den Letzten 4 gespielt. Diese 4 Spieler jeder Gruppe ziehen dann in die Endrunde der letzten 64 ein. „Thorsten Hohmann (GER) gewinnt Accu-Stats Straight Pool Invitational 2013 mit einer Bilanz von 6-2. Den 2. Platz belegt Mika Immonen (FIN) vor Ralf Souquet (GER) auf Platz 3″ Ab morgen findet in Edison/New Jersey das Accu-Stats Straight Pool Invitational statt. Vom 10. – 13. August 2013 spielen im Sandcastle Billiards fünf Topspieler Jeder gegen Jeden in der Disziplin 14.1 bzw. Straight Pool. Die 5 Teilnehmer sind Mika Immonen (FIN), Thorsten Hohmann (GER), Ralf Souquet (GER), Oliver Ortmann (GER) und Danny Harriman (USA). Diese Spieler werden im Double Round Robin System (Jeder spielt gegen Jeden zweimal) bis 75 Punkte spielen und pro Sieg bekommt der Sieger 750$. Auch das höchste Break bekommt eine Sonderprämie. Accu-Stats Video Productions ist bekannt für sehr gute Livestreams die auch später auf DVD erhältlich sein werden. Auflage der US Open 8 Ball Championship statt. Nach den US Open 10 Ball Championship 2013 folgt direkt im Anschluss die US Open 8 Ball Championship 2013. Das Wichtigste wurde bereits in den anderen US Open Artikeln gesagt, das Teilnehmerfeld von 96 Spielern bleibt selbstredend das gleiche und ist natürlich mehr als spektakulär. Allerdings weiß ich nicht ob es so sinnvoll ist drei US Open Events innerhalb von 10 Tagen zu spielen. Platz teilen sich Ivo Aarts (NED) und Niels Feijen (NED)!“ Am Freitag beginnt in Leuven/Belgien die 5. Ausgabe der Longoni Benelux Open. Die Benelux Open gehören nun seit einigen Jahren zu den Highlights im europäischen Pool Billard Turnierkalender. Das 10 Ball Event zieht jedes Jahr viele Topspieler aus ganz Europa an und das liegt nicht nur am garantierten Preisgeld von 10.000 Euro. Die Organisation sowie die Promotion für dieses Event sind absolut erstklassig. Der Austragungsort ist das Billardlokal De Loft in Leuven. Die Stadt Leuven gehört für mich zu den schönsten Städten in ganz Belgien und ist nicht nur wegen der Benelux Open eine Reise wert.
