Chinakhov eliminates Alcaide and Das in a row The 10-Ball competition at the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in Acapulco Hotel and Resort, Kyrenia, North Cyprus, has provided the spectators with some unexpected results today. A total of 98 men, 46 women and 17 wheelchair players have lined up today to see who will eventually snatch the title from the current Champions. Ruslan Chinakhov came up with the first upset of the day. He defeated David Alcaide (ESP) in a tight thriller with 8:7. In the next round, Chinakhov went ahead and also sent Serge Das (BEL) to the loser’s side. Defending Champion Mateusz Sniegocki (POL) was another famous victim of today’s play. He lost his opening match to Daryl Peach (GBR) with 7:8. Peach proceeded into the single elimination round of the final 64 players while Sniegocki takes the long way. Vom 30. März – 09. April 2014 findet in Kyrenia/North Zyprus die Pool Billard Europameisterschaft der Damen, Herren und Rollstuhlfahrer statt. Die Dynamic Billard European Championships Men, Women & Wheelchair 2014 wird auch in diesem Jahr erneut viele hochklassige und spannende Matches hervorbringen. Die letzte Europameisterschaft wurde aus deutscher Sicht erheblich getrübt, zum ersten Mal seit sehr langer Zeit blieb das deutsche Team ohne Medaille. Alle Sieger des Vorjahres findet man im Artikel von 2013 —> Dynamic Billard European Championships Men, Women & Wheelchair 2013. Den Medaillenspiegel 2013 gewann Polen vor den Niederlanden. Nur ganz wenige, der besten Pool Billard Spieler Europas, werden in Kyrenia nicht am Start sein. It’s strongly based on the well-known Derby City Classic, one of world’s biggest most visited tournaments. The Derby hosts world’s biggest one-pocket and bankpool event with more than 800 players visiting every year. Shane Van Boening (USA) gewinnt Predator Open 10 Ball Pro Players Championship 2014 im Finale gegen Tommy Kennedy (USA) mit 13-8. Den 3. Platz belegt Earl Strickland (USA). Ralf Souquet (GER) belegt Platz 5. Vom 13. – 16. März 2014 findet in New Jersey Convention Center in Edison/USA die ultimative Billardmesse statt. Die Super Billiards Expo wird in diesem Jahr zum 22. mal ausgetragen und zählt zu den Highlights des gesamten Jahres. Ralf Souquet (GER) gewinnt 6. Liberty Open 2014 im Finale gegen Roman Hybler (CZE). Den 3. Platz teilen sich Geronimo Weissenberger (GER) und Steffen Gross (GER). Im Billard Cafe Liberty in Aalen findet am kommenden Sonntag, den 22. Februar 2014 die 6. Ausgabe der Liberty Open statt. Ausrichter ist der BC Aalen und ein wenig unbemerkt hat sich ein ziemlich gutes Teilnehmerfeld für dieses Eintagesturnier zusammengefunden. Das Preisgeld beträgt immerhin 1.700 Euro und unter den 64 Teilnehmern ist kein geringerer als Ralf Souquet. Der deutsche Superstar und mehrmalige Weltmeister zählt natürlich zu den Topfavoriten in Aalen. Einige weitere Favoriten der Liberty Open 2014 sind Antonio Benvenuto (ITA), Jakob Belka (GER), Geronimo Weissenberger (GER), Roman Hybler (CZE), Tobias Hoiß (GER) und Oezer Bulunmaz (GER). WPBL Finals: Victory for the Outlaws LAS VEGAS, NV (February 15, 2014) The World Professional League played their first league championship at the WPBL Arena in Las Vegas, NV Friday February 13, 2014 which was broadcast live in the US via ESPN3. The final match-up had the #2 seed Minnesota Outlaws facing off against the league’s #12 seed the Atlanta Scorpions. The inaugural season’s first championship was not without some pomp and circumstance. Opening ceremonies included the singing of the National Anthem and displaying of the championship trophy that the winning team would take home. Johnny Archers’ Atlanta Scorpions who are not without superb talent, were league underdogs going into the match facing one of the most consistent teams throughout the season Thorsten Hohmann’s Minnesota Outlaws. In the end, the Outlaws proved too tough for the Scorpions as they held on to win the first WPBL Championship. WPBL Semi-Finals: Outlaws outlast the Poison Minnesota Outlaws Face-Off against the Atlanta Scorpions in the Finals LAS VEGAS, NV (February 13, 2014) The second World Professional League semi-final match was played at the WPBL Arena in Las Vegas, NV. On Thursday February 13, 2014. The match-up featured the #2 seed Minnesota Outlaws vs. the #9 seed Pittsburg Poison. The Poison’s dramatic run in the WPBL Championship Playoffs ended with a heartbreaking 7-5 loss to the Outlaws Thursday February 13th, sending Minnesota to Saturday’s WPBL Championship game to face the Atlanta Scorpions. Pittsburgh needed to win the final game in regulation to stay alive, but failed to score when given the opportunities down the stretch. That left the door open for Minnesota to run out the clock in regulation and clinch the match. Nick van den Berg (NED) gewinnt Italy Open 2014 im Finale gegen Karol Skowerski (POL) mit 9-5. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Niels Feijen (NED) und Mark Gray (GBR). Die Euro-Tour startet vom 06. – 08. Februar 2014 in Treviso/Italien in die neue Saison. Bei den letzten Euro-Tour Events hatte der Veranstalter ein wenig mit rückläufigen Teilnehmerzahlen zu kämpfen und die Attraktivität der Tour wurde infrage gestellt. Mittlerweile sind für die Italy Open 2014 mehr als 130 Teilnehmer gemeldet und vielleicht ist das ein Zeichen dafür, dass es eventuell nur eine kleine Durststrecke war. Titelverteidiger ist Konstantin Stepanov (RUS), er bezwang im letztjährigen Finale Dimitri Jungo aus der Schweiz mit 9-7. Gespielt wird 9 Ball auf 9 Gewinnspiele mit Wechselbreak und das Gesamtpreisgeld beträgt 34.000 Euro. Austragungsort ist wie so oft das BHR Hotel in Treviso. Derby City Classic 2014

In der Zeit vom 24. Januar bis 01. Februar 2014 findet im Horseshoe Casino in Indiana/USA die 16. Auflage des Derby City Classic statt. Auch in diesem Jahr ist das DCC eines der wichtigsten und spannendsten Pool Billard Events des Jahres. Über eine ganze Woche wird Pool Billard total geboten. Drei Hauptevents und zig Sideevents lassen keine Langeweile aufkommen. Die drei Hauptveranstaltungen sind 9 Ball Bank, One Pocket und 9 Ball. Die erfolgreichsten Teilnehmer aller Hauptevents kommen für den Titel „All Around Champion“ infrage und haben somit eine Chance auf das Preisgeld von 25.000$. Im letzten Jahr sicherte sich Francisco Bustamante (PHI) diesen Titel. Die spannendsten Sideevents sind die Straight-Pool Challenge und die DIAMOND Bigfoot 10-Ball Challenge, bei der es immerhin 16.000$ added Money abzustauben gibt. Das Gesamtpreisgeld des Derby City Classic 2014 liegt bei etwa 200.000$. Nahezu die gesamte Weltelite wird in Indiana am Start sein und versuchen einen guten Start ins Jahr 2014 zu haben.
