Strickland last played in the World Cup of Pool in 2006, also his last competitive appearance in the UK. The incredible journey of Karl Boyes The Dynamic Eurotour – Slovenia Open – 21-24 aug 2014 22/08/2014 Great Britain’s Karl Boyes has been on a tough mission in this Dynamic Billard Slovenian Open so far. Yesterday, he defeated Ralf Souquet (GER) with 9:3. Then, he won over Adam Mscisz (POL) 9:1, probably the only „easy“ match so far. Today, he fell to the sharp blade of „The Terminator“ Niels Feijen (NED) 3:9 in the winner’s qualification round. He went on the loser’s side just to mert Ralf Souquet again. There, he was having a comfortable lead when Souquet started pulling back rack after rack from him. He broke at 8:7 in his favor and the 9-ball went in the pocket. That brought „The Grinder“ to the round of the last 32 players. There, Boyes met another heavyweight in David Alcaide (ESP). Brother-sister duel in the Euro-Tour The Dynamic Eurotour – Slovenia Open – 21-24 aug 2014 21/08/2014 The Dynamic Billard Slovenian Open had a novelty today: For the first time, brother and sister met in the second winner’s round. We are talking about Jasmin and Albin Ouschan from Austria. They both had a walk-over in the first round. Then, in the first winner’s round, Jasmin defeated Andrey Seroshtan (RUS) 9:5 while Albin overcame Michael Lichodziejewski (POL) 9:7. This brought the two together in winner’s round two. They started out quite equally. Then, Jasmin committed two mistakes which was enough for her brother to snatch the needed points off her, winning the match with 9:4. „When we saw we had to play each other, we had to laugh“, stated Albin after the match. „Jasmin and I have played each other in competition six or seven years ago for the last time“. Denis Grabe (EST) gewinnt Slovenian Open 2014 im Finale gegen Marc Bijsterbosch (NED) mit 9-4. Den 3. Platz teilen sich Mats Schjetne (NOR) und Marcus Chamat (SWE). Der nächste Euro-Tour Stop 2014 findet direkt nach den Europameisterschaften der Jugendlichen und Senioren in Portoroz/Slowenien statt. In der Zeit vom 21. – 23. August 2014 trifft sich in Portoroz bei den Slovenian Open 2014 mal wieder annähernd die Gesamte europäischen Pool Billard Elite. Die letzte Euro-Tour Veranstaltung im Mai fand in Österreich statt und die Austria Open 2014 gewann Denis Grabe (EST) im Finale gegen Nikos Ekonomopoulos (GRE) mit 9-1. Natürlich ist auch diese Euro-Tour teil des Mosconi Cup Rankings 2014. Für dieses Ranking des beliebtesten Pool Billard Events des Jahres werden Punkte verteilt und die ersten drei werden direkt nominiert für das Team Europa Anfang Dezember. I couldn’t find any other suitable date in the international calendar. Ah well, two celebrations are in order, then. Friday August 15th (qualification rounds*) 11.00 am Group B | 3.00 pm Group C | 7.00 pm Group D Saturday August 16th (qualification rounds*) 11.00 am Group E | 3.00 pm Group F | 7.00 pm Group G Sunday August 17th 9.00 am Final 32 and onwards, to the final IMPORTANT! Check in with the tournament organisation, ((( at least 30 minutes ))) prior to the start of your qualification group. Otherwise you will NOT be taken up in the draw. 2014 World Cup of Pool Schedule 12 August – 2014 World Cup of Pool Match Schedule Announced WITH THE 2014 World Cup of Pool set for the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth from 23rd to 28th September, promoters Matchroom Sport can announce the schedule of matches for this prestigious $250,000 event. There are 16 first round matches in total with two sessions a day and three matches per session. Sessions are at 12 noon and 6.00pm until the weekend when the afternoon session takes place at 1.00pm, while the evenings continue at 6.00pm. Defending champions the Philippines – Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza – are in action on the opening night when they face the best of South America in their quest for a fourth World Cup title. 2012 champions Finland, represented by Mika Immonen and Petri Makkonen, are also in action on the Tuesday night when they square off against Korea. In einigen Tagen findet vom 15. – 17. August 2014 in Rotterdam die 6. Ausgabe der LONGONI Benelux Open statt. Die 2014 LONGONI Benelux Open sind wie jedes Jahr eines der am besten organisierten und vor allem promoteten Pool Billard Turniere auf dem europäischen Kontinent. Bereits viele Monate vorher ist der Veranstalter Cakti Aswan und sein Hauptsponsor Longoni sehr bemüht, dieses Turnier zu bewerben. Und wie bereits in den letzten Jahren folgen sehr viele internationale Topstars der Szene dieser Aufforderung bei den LONGONI Benelux Open anzutreten. Das 10 Ball Event hat bereits jetzt mehr als 110 Meldungen und das 128er Teilnehmerfeld ist so gut wie ausgebucht. Niels Feijen (NED) gewinnt Bergen Open 2014 im Finale gegen Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) mit 9-5. Den 3. Platz belegen Francisco Bustamante (PHI) und Mark McGauley (GBR). Morgen beginnen in Bergen/Norwegen die Bergen Open 9-Ball 2014. In der zweitgrößten Stadt Norwegens findet wie in den letzten beiden Jahren ein recht Interessantes 9 Ball Turnier statt. Die Bergen Open (07. – 09. August 2014) sind ein Handicap Turnier, bei dem auch die weniger bekannten Spieler aufgrund einer Vorgabe immer eine Siegchance besitzen. Gespielt werden alle Partien auf 9 Gewinnspiele, wobei die maximal Vorgabe 5 Spiele beträgt. Das Besondere an diesem Turnier ist die Anwesenheit der beiden philippinischen Superstars Efren Reyes und Francisco Bustamante. Die beiden würden alleine schon für eine Menge Spektakel sorgen. Im sehr bekannten Billardsalon Kong Oscar werden aber noch mehr Hochkaräter am Start sein. Team China 2 (Liu Haitao, Dang Jinhu, Wang Can, Fu Xiaofang, Liu Shasha) gewinnt 2014 World Pool Team Championship im Finale gegen Team Philippines (Dennis Orcollo, Lee Vann Corteza, Carlo Biado, Rubilen Amit) mit 4-2. Den 3. Platz belegen China 1 und Japan. Deutschland (Ralf Souquet, Thorsten Hohmann, Ina Kaplan, Sebastian Staab) landet auf einem sehr guten 5. Platz. Vom 28. Juli – 02. August 2014 findet in Beijing/China die 2014 World Pool Team Championship statt. Diese Team Weltmeisterschaft ist nicht zu verwechseln mit dem jährlich stattfindenden World Cup of Pool vom Veranstalter Matchroom Sport. In Beijing treffen insgesamt 25 Teams aus 24 Nationen aufeinander. China stellt als Gastgeber zwei Mannschaften. Auch dieses Jahr ist die Informationsbeschaffung äußerst schwierig und zäh. Es gibt so gut wie keine brauchbaren Informationen in für uns verständlicher Sprache. Das meiste wird leider nur in Mandarin (Chinesisch) angeboten. Double Dutch Lead Race to Blackpool 30th June, 2014 PartyPoker Mosconi Cup FOLLOWING HIS string of magnificent performances in capturing the WPA World 9 Ball Championship in Doha, Holland’s Niels Feijen has put himself in prime position to make his tenth appearance in the PartyPoker Mosconi Cup this December. There are three automatic spots available on Team Europe drawn from three separate rankings and the 37 year-old from the Hague heads two of those following his 13 -10 win over Austria’s Albin Ouschan. Compatriot Nick Van den Berg is on top of the Euro Tour ranking while Feijen heads the ‘World’ list and the ‘Combined Ranking’ – a combination of the other two lists.
